Dürr has successfully delivered a state-of-the-art turnkey paint shop for Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) at the newly established Thanh Cong Viet Hung (TCVH) automobile plant in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. This marks the first collaboration between Dürr and TC Group, supporting the rollout of Škoda’s first locally produced vehicles in the country.
The TCVH plant represents a major milestone in Vietnam’s push to build a modern, large-scale automotive manufacturing ecosystem in Quang Ninh. Developed with 100% investment by TC Group, the facility spans 36.5 hectares and boasts an annual production capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles. It is designed to serve as a distribution and production hub for Škoda vehicles across Southeast Asia, while also stimulating local job creation, skill development, and regional economic growth.
The new facility will manufacture Škoda Kushaq and Škoda Slavia models, with logistics advantages stemming from its proximity to Haiphong Port, which supports efficient import of CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits from Pune, India. The plant’s Phase I operations are structured for 13 jobs per hour (JPH), with plans to scale up to 20 JPH in Phase II.
Despite disruptions in global supply chains, limited availability of electrical components and sheet metal, and severe weather events including Super Typhoons, Dürr completed the project within 18 months—from contract signing in November 2023 to final acceptance in July 2025. The project was delivered on schedule and met all technical specifications, showcasing Dürr’s strong project management and execution capabilities.
For its remarkable execution, Dürr China received the “Excellent Supplier” award from TC Motors, recognizing its outstanding performance, collaboration, and technical precision. “A major factor in our success was the seamless teamwork between Dürr China, Dürr Vietnam, and TC Group,” said Wang Shuo, Project Manager at Dürr Paint Shop Systems Engineering (Shanghai) Co, Ltd. “This achievement reflects our commitment, professionalism, and ability to deliver complex projects even under challenging conditions.”
Dürr’s contribution includes the installation of advanced paint shop technologies that enhance production efficiency and sustainability. The highlight is the RoDip® E system, an electrically driven pretreatment and electrocoating process utilizing programmable trolleys. Each trolley features independent conveying and rotating drives, allowing tailored dip curves for different vehicle models—resulting in improved coating precision, reduced energy use, and lower per-unit costs.
Another innovative element is the dual-use spray booth, where both primer and clear coat are applied in the same chamber—optimizing floor space and reducing investment costs. The project scope also includes sealing lines, seven high-performance painting robots, curing ovens, and a hot wax line, ensuring a fully integrated, modern production setup. With this landmark project, Dürr strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia’s growing automotive sector, while TC Group and Škoda advance their shared vision of establishing Vietnam as a key automotive manufacturing hub in the region.
