Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) has announced the establishment of a new research and development facility in Telangana, India, scheduled to commence operations in April 2026. The new centre marks the company’s second overseas R&D base, following the launch of its Netherlands facility in 2025, and reflects its commitment to expanding global innovation capabilities.

The R&D centre will be located within the Technology Research Park at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), a leading institution in science and engineering. Through this collaboration, DNP aims to combine its technological expertise with the academic and research strengths of IIT Hyderabad to accelerate the development and real-world application of advanced technologies.

The facility will initially focus on two priority areas: mobility and medical healthcare. In the mobility sector, research efforts will centre on wireless power transfer systems for electric vehicles (EVs). Building on its strong global position in battery pouch materials for lithium-ion batteries, DNP plans to advance next-generation mobility solutions by leveraging its proprietary sheet-type coil technology. The joint research initiative aims to support future transportation systems, including autonomous driving and electrified mobility.

In the healthcare domain, the collaboration will focus on developing efficient synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Drawing on the expertise of DNP Group’s fine chemicals operations, the research will cover the entire process from molecular design and prototyping to evaluation and scalable production. This initiative is expected to contribute to more efficient and sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

DNP intends to position India as a key hub for API development within its global network, with plans to commercialize research outcomes and expand into both domestic and international markets. The new R&D base is also expected to facilitate closer collaboration with local talent and research ecosystems, supporting innovation aligned with regional and global needs.

The establishment of the Hyderabad facility underscores DNP’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in high-growth markets and invest in future-oriented technologies. By integrating academic collaboration with industrial application, the company aims to accelerate innovation cycles and bring advanced solutions to market more efficiently.

Founded in 1876, DNP is a global technology company that leverages its expertise in printing, microfabrication and precision coating to develop advanced solutions across industries. The company operates in areas including electronics, display technologies, packaging and life sciences, with a focus on innovation that supports sustainability and enhances everyday life.
