DMG MORI Co, Ltd and HAIMER GmbH have announced the next phase of their long-standing strategic alliance, focused on accelerating digitization, automation, and software-driven integration within global machining environments. The enhanced partnership extends the implementation of HAIMER’s “Tool Room of the Future” solutions across DMG MORI’s global sites, including the introduction of fully automated systems at the company’s Iga production facility in Japan and a new global software distribution agreement through DMG MORI Technium.
For nearly two decades, DMG MORI — a world leader in machine tool manufacturing — and HAIMER — a global pioneer in high-precision tooling, shrinking, presetting, and balancing systems — have worked together to bring greater precision and efficiency to machining operations. The renewed collaboration reflects the evolution of the industry toward both Machining Transformation (MX) and Digital Transformation (DX) by integrating HAIMER’s digital technologies and Industry 4.0-ready software within the DMG MORI Qualified Products (DMQP) ecosystem.
Dr Masahiko Mori, President of DMG MORI Co, Ltd, emphasized the significance of the partnership’s expansion “Working with HAIMER as a trusted long-term partner supports our MX and DX strategies by integrating leading shrink-fit, balancing, and presetting systems with high-precision tooling and automation. Together, we are delivering full process integration and digital twin connectivity to our customers around the world.”
Andreas Haimer, President of the HAIMER Group, highlighted the digital synergy driving the collaboration “We are taking our global partnership to the next level by implementing the ‘Tool Room of the Future’ across DMG MORI’s facilities, showrooms, and technology centers worldwide. Through our Industry 4.0-ready systems — including WinTool, Tool Room Manager, and Toolbase solutions — customers will gain access to fully connected, automated tooling environments, available through DMG MORI’s DMQP program.”
Under this expanded agreement, HAIMER’s digital solutions — including WinTool for data management, Tool Room Manager for process control, and Toolbase for automated inventory and reordering — will be deployed across key DMG MORI facilities in Tokyo, Iga, and Pfronten, as well as additional global locations. Every step of tool assembly will be digitally tracked, verified, and documented, ensuring seamless integration between physical and digital production systems.
At the Iga facility, DMG MORI has already implemented the HAIMER Automation Cube One, a 12-axis automated cell featuring collaborative robotics for lights-out tool assembly. This setup integrates Magnescale components for ultimate precision and has delivered measurable performance gains.
Kazutoyo Moriguchi, Senior Executive Officer for Production Engineering and Vice President, DMG MORI Iga Co, Ltd, commented “Since adopting HAIMER’s shrink-fit technology, we have seen productivity gains of over 30%. With the Automation Cube One, we are now entering the next stage — a fully automated tool room that allows continuous operation and addresses the skills gap in high-volume production.”
The partnership also includes a global software distribution agreement under which DMG MORI Technium will resell HAIMER’s WinTool and related software worldwide. The collaboration aims to create an interconnected ecosystem that unites more than 20 CAM systems, providing customers with digital tool management and complete twin connectivity.
Kentaro Blumenstengel, Executive Officer, DMQP and President of DMG MORI Technium, noted:
“HAIMER has long been one of our most important DMQP partners. This new agreement expands our collaboration to include the global distribution of HAIMER software — providing customers with advanced digital solutions that enhance productivity and connectivity.”
Koichi Nosaka, President of HAIMER Japan KK, added that the integration of HAIMER systems has already proven successful in Japan “Our customers have experienced spindle life extensions of up to 300% through HAIMER balancing technology, and our Microset presetting systems have improved accuracy and reduced calibration needs for major Japanese automotive manufacturers. These results demonstrate the tangible benefits of our technologies in precision manufacturing.”
Together, DMG MORI and HAIMER are redefining the standards for digital tooling, combining machine precision with software intelligence to deliver a fully connected, automated, and future-ready manufacturing ecosystem. HAIMER is a family-owned, medium-sized enterprise based in Igenhausen, Bavaria, near Augsburg, Germany. The company specializes in designing, manufacturing, and marketing innovative, high-precision products for metal cutting and various industrial sectors, including automotive, aerospace, energy, rail, and general machining. Its extensive product portfolio includes a wide range of tool holders in all common interfaces and lengths, solid carbide cutting tools, shrink fit and balancing machines, as well as 3D sensors and tool presetting machines produced by HAIMER Microset.
Of its approximately 800 employees worldwide, around 500 are based at the company’s main production facility in Igenhausen, where advanced machinery and a high degree of automation ensure exceptional precision and productivity. HAIMER Microset tool presetting machines are manufactured at the company’s second production site in Bielefeld, employing around 50 people. HAIMER’s skilled, motivated, and highly qualified workforce upholds the company’s reputation for excellence and the renowned “Made by HAIMER” quality.
As an active training company, HAIMER supports nearly 50 apprentices and maintains a high employment rate among them, ensuring a steady supply of future talent and contributing to the development of young professionals—thereby strengthening the foundation of German manufacturing.
Recognized as Europe’s market leader in tool holding technology, HAIMER produces approximately 4,000 tool holders daily. Maintaining a technological edge is a top priority; therefore, the company reinvests between 8% and 10% of its annual revenue into research and development. Guided by its core philosophy, “Quality wins,” HAIMER continually strives for improvement and innovation every single day.
