DEP and AVL Enter Strategic Agreement to Expand MeshWorks CAE Platform Across the US and Europe

manufacturing news

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) and AVL have announced a strategic partnership to jointly deliver an integrated simulation toolchain combining DEP’s MeshWorks CAE platform with AVL EXCITE™. Under the agreement, AVL will act as an authorized distributor of MeshWorks for mobility companies across the United States and Europe.

The collaboration brings together DEP’s parametric CAE modeling and optimization capabilities with AVL’s dynamic and acoustic simulation tools, enabling engineers to streamline propulsion system development. The integrated toolchain allows finite element models to be generated directly from CAD data, parameterized, and optimized for shape and topology before being deployed in AVL EXCITE™ simulations. This approach enables faster design iterations without requiring continuous CAD involvement.

The combined solution is expected to significantly reduce development timelines while improving performance, weight optimization, and cost efficiency. Applications span a wide range of mobility sectors, including passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as marine and aerospace platforms.

DEP’s MeshWorks platform enables rapid concept modeling, automated meshing, and advanced optimization for both conventional and electric powertrains. Its capabilities include AI- and machine learning-driven automation, reduced-order modeling, multi-disciplinary optimization, and process automation, allowing engineers to improve design accuracy while shortening development cycles.

AVL’s global reach and expertise in simulation and testing technologies will help accelerate the adoption of MeshWorks among CAE teams in key mobility markets. By integrating MeshWorks into existing AVL workflows, engineers will be able to enhance simulation efficiency without disrupting established processes.

The partnership aligns with both companies’ focus on advancing digital engineering and supporting the mobility industry’s transition toward more efficient, sustainable, and data-driven product development. With combined strengths in software, simulation, and engineering services, DEP and AVL aim to deliver scalable solutions that address the growing complexity of modern propulsion and mobility systems.

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) is a global engineering services and technology company specializing in product development, software solutions, consulting, and talent acquisition. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Troy, Michigan, DEP operates worldwide with a strong presence across Europe, China, Korea, Japan, and India.

DEP accelerates product development through its proprietary CAE platform, MeshWorks, which enables rapid concept modeling, automated meshing, parameterization, and optimization for both conventional and electric powertrains. Launched in 2001, MeshWorks has evolved into a comprehensive pre- and post-processing environment, integrating AI/ML-driven automation, advanced morphing tools, and next-generation simulation capabilities.

Its modules for reduced-order modeling, EV optimization, process automation, multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO), and AI-based design guidance help engineers significantly reduce development time and cost while improving design accuracy and performance.

Driven by a strong focus on engineering excellence, research and development, and digital engineering initiatives, DEP supports organizations across industries including automotive, aerospace, marine, rail, energy, and consumer products. Through these capabilities, DEP helps customers achieve faster time-to-market, higher product efficiency, and more sustainable engineering outcomes.
