Delhivery and Bajaj Auto have entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India’s last-mile logistics sector, beginning with the deployment of 200 Bajaj RIKI electric cargo vehicles across Delhivery’s delivery network. The collaboration marks the first phase of a larger fleet electrification programme that aims to introduce nearly 1,500 Bajaj electric three-wheelers, including L3 and L5 models, during 2026-27.

The partnership was officially flagged off at Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing facility in Akurdi, Pune, and reflects the growing focus on cleaner, more efficient transportation solutions for urban and emerging regional markets. The deployment will extend beyond metropolitan cities into Tier-2 and Tier-3 locations, strengthening electric mobility adoption across a wider logistics network.

The Bajaj RIKI C4005 electric cargo vehicle has been developed to meet the demands of high-frequency last-mile delivery operations. Powered by an electric drivetrain and equipped with a two-speed automatic transmission, the vehicle offers a driving range exceeding 100 kilometres on a single charge while significantly reducing operating and maintenance costs. Its higher payload capacity enables delivery partners to complete more shipments per trip, improving fleet productivity and operational efficiency.

Integrated with Delhivery’s route optimisation technology, the electric cargo vehicles are expected to enhance delivery performance while improving earning opportunities for delivery partners through lower running costs and greater daily delivery capacity. Prashant Gazipur, Chief Operating Officer, In-City Operations at Delhivery, said the collaboration aligns commercial efficiency with environmental responsibility. He noted that combining intelligent routing systems with electric cargo vehicles would lower operating costs, improve rider earnings and support customers seeking lower-carbon logistics solutions.

Samardeep Subandh, President, Intra-City Business at Bajaj Auto, said the partnership demonstrates how electric mobility can transform cargo transportation across both metropolitan and emerging markets. He added that the Bajaj RIKI C4005 has been engineered to deliver dependable performance, durability and driver comfort while supporting the evolving needs of logistics operators.

Beyond improving delivery efficiency, the new electric vehicles are designed to enhance driver welfare. Features such as ergonomic seating, enclosed cabins and improved load handling reduce physical strain during long working hours while offering better protection against changing weather conditions. The initiative also contributes to Delhivery’s long-term sustainability strategy by replacing internal combustion vehicles with electric alternatives, helping reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions across its logistics operations.
