Danfoss Climate Solutions has expanded its manufacturing operations in Monterrey, Mexico, with the introduction of a new assembly line dedicated to oil-free check (OFC) valves for Turbocor oil-free compressors. The investment is designed to strengthen regional manufacturing capabilities, improve supply chain resilience and reduce lead times for North American original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers.
The newly established production line will assemble OFC valves, which combine the functions of a ball valve-style shut-off and a check valve within a single unit. According to Danfoss, the solution is designed to reduce discharge pressure drop while supporting increased capacity and efficiency in applications using Turbocor compressors.
The OFC valve incorporates several features intended to simplify system design and enhance performance. These include an integrated stop function, a damped check valve function, an integrated diffuser elbow and an integrated staging port. The Monterrey facility will ultimately manufacture 12 different models, providing customers with a range of configurations to suit varying application requirements.
The product range will include 3 1/8-inch and 4 1/8-inch steel or solder flange options, with or without ball valves and in both regular and compact sizes. The expansion follows the extension of the OFC product range in 2025, allowing the locally produced portfolio to address a broader range of heating, cooling and refrigeration applications.
The Monterrey facility itself underwent a major expansion approximately one year ago, doubling its production capacity. Since then, the site has expanded its manufacturing portfolio to include scroll compressors, BOCK compressors, sensors and microchannel heat exchangers. The addition of OFC valve assembly further strengthens the facility’s role in serving customers across North America.
Local production is expected to provide greater supply chain flexibility for OEM customers using Turbocor compressors in chillers and heat pumps. Danfoss also expects the locally assembled products to progressively receive approval under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), supporting their availability within the regional market.
The investment comes amid increasing demand for oil-free compressor technologies, particularly in data centre applications. Operators of these facilities are seeking solutions that can improve energy efficiency while helping reduce operating costs and carbon emissions. Oil-free compressor systems are increasingly being considered as part of efforts to improve the overall efficiency of critical cooling infrastructure.
Vikas Anand, Vice President of Danfoss Climate Solutions in North America, said the launch of OFC valve production in Monterrey represents a strategic investment in the company’s North American operations. He added that the initiative is intended to strengthen supply chains, improve product delivery and create greater value for customers while supporting their sustainability objectives.
The expanded Monterrey manufacturing capabilities reinforce Danfoss Climate Solutions’ focus on localized production and technology development for customers across North America, while supporting the growing adoption of energy-efficient and oil-free cooling technologies in commercial and industrial applications.
