Cronus Pharma LLC, a veterinary pharmaceutical company focused on developing accessible animal health products, has launched Robenacoxib Injection in the United States. The product is the only FDA-approved bioequivalent to ONSIOR® (robenacoxib) Injection.
Robenacoxib Injection is indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation in dogs and cats aged four months and older. In dogs, it is indicated for pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue surgery. In cats, it is indicated following orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy and castration. Treatment is limited to a maximum of three days. The product is now available through national and regional veterinary distributors across the United States, giving veterinary professionals another FDA-approved option for managing postoperative pain.
“Addressing post-operative pain is imperative in both dogs and cats,” said Scott A Krick, DVM, Consulting Technical Services Veterinarian at Cronus Pharma. “The launch of Robenacoxib Injection from Cronus Pharma provides a cost-effective NSAID option and reflects our commitment to expanding access to FDA-approved bioequivalent medications that support veterinarians, their patients, and pet owners.”
Robenacoxib Injection is supplied as a 20 mg/mL solution in a 20 mL multidose vial. The product has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as bioequivalent to the reference listed new animal drug, ONSIOR® (robenacoxib) Injection, under ANADA #200-804.
Janel Fisher, Vice President of Sales at Cronus Pharma, said the launch represents another addition to the company’s expanding portfolio of FDA-approved veterinary medicines. “Innovation is at the heart of what we do, and we are continually looking for opportunities to bring meaningful new products to the veterinary market,” Fisher said. “This launch demonstrates our ability to turn that commitment to innovation into solutions that provide greater choice and value for the veterinary community.”
Federal law restricts Robenacoxib Injection to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. The product should not be used for more than three days or in animals younger than four months. The company also notes that serious adverse events, including hepatopathy, have been reported with long-term use of robenacoxib tablets in dogs. The launch forms part of Cronus Pharma’s broader effort to develop and commercialize veterinary generic medicines that meet FDA requirements while providing cost-effective choices for animal healthcare.
Based in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Cronus Pharma is a privately held veterinary generic pharmaceutical company. Its operations span research, development, manufacturing and marketing, supported by a pipeline of products under development and awaiting FDA approval.
