Coratia Technologies, an Indian deep-tech company specialising in underwater robotics, has raised ₹18 crore in a bridge funding round led by MGF Kavachh. The investment will support the execution of the company’s ₹66 crore Indian Navy contract under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative, alongside research and development, product development and manufacturing expansion.
The latest investment follows a ₹17 crore Pre-Series A round raised in 2025 from MGF Kavachh, Piper and SIDBI. The additional capital is expected to help Coratia strengthen its underwater robotics platform and expand deployment across defence, industrial and critical-infrastructure applications.
Founded by Debendra Pradhan and Biswajit Swain, Coratia develops indigenous underwater robotic systems designed to operate in challenging marine conditions. Its flagship Jalasimha underwater remotely operated vehicle (UWROV) has achieved Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL-9), indicating readiness for operational deployment.
The company is developing capabilities in autonomy, sensing, navigation, underwater perception and intervention. Its systems are designed to address operating conditions found in Indian waters, including high turbidity, silt, poor visibility and changing currents.
“Indian waters present unique challenges, including high turbidity, silt, low visibility and changing currents. Our focus is on miniaturising technology while advancing our systems’ intelligence, capability and deployability across defence, infrastructure and industrial applications,” said Debendra Pradhan, Co-founder and CEO of Coratia Technologies.
Co-founder and CTO Biswajit Swain said the company’s development programme extends beyond its Navy contract, with continued investment in research and engineering to address specialised underwater requirements. MGF Kavachh Founder and Managing Partner Raj Sethia said Coratia’s engineering and research capabilities could serve defence, critical infrastructure and the wider maritime economy. Vandana Swarup, Director – Investments at MGF Kavachh, said the follow-on investment would help the company advance its development plans and expand deployments.
Coratia’s clients and partners include the Indian Navy, Indian Oil, Indian Railways, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Steel Authority of India, Neelachal Ispat Nigam, Jindal Steel and Power, and NIT Rourkela. Beyond defence, its systems can be used to inspect dams, reservoirs, bridges, ports, pipelines, offshore assets, ship infrastructure and subsea communication networks. Underwater robots equipped with cameras, sonar and other sensors can help assess submerged structures and support inspections after floods, reducing the need for divers to enter hazardous conditions.
Coratia Technologies develops indigenous underwater robotic systems for inspection, surveying and intervention across defence, infrastructure and industrial applications. Its capabilities include visual inspection, sonar surveys, bathymetry, non-destructive testing, structural assessment and robotic cleaning. The company aims to develop mission-ready underwater solutions for India’s maritime and critical-infrastructure requirements.
