Chevron Corporation has announced the launch of next-generation Techron, an upgraded version of its proprietary gasoline additive designed to provide enhanced engine protection and improved long-term vehicle performance. The new formulation is now available across all grades of gasoline sold at Chevron and Texaco fuel stations across the United States.
Developed by Chevron USA Inc, the next-generation Techron additive has been engineered to help combat harmful engine deposits often caused by lower-quality fuels. According to the company, the reformulated additive supports cleaner engines, improved fuel efficiency, and reliable performance under modern driving conditions. Chevron stated that the launch reflects its continued investment in fuel science, engine technology, and advanced additive research aimed at meeting the evolving requirements of today’s vehicles and powertrain systems.
Andy Walz said fuel technology continues to evolve rapidly, making innovation in fuel additives increasingly important for maintaining engine health and vehicle efficiency. He noted that the latest Techron formulation builds on the long-standing performance expectations associated with Chevron and Texaco fuels, while reinforcing the company’s focus on science-driven innovation and product quality.
Chevron said the new additive underwent extensive validation and performance testing conducted by its scientists, chemists, and engineering teams. The testing process included laboratory analysis, engine performance studies, and benchmarking exercises against competing fuel technologies.
According to the company, gasoline formulated with next-generation Techron can help clean up to 100 per cent of harmful engine deposits left by lower-quality fuels when used consistently. The deposit-cleaning capability is intended to improve engine responsiveness, maintain fuel system efficiency, and support long-term engine durability.
The company highlighted that Techron has been developed through decades of proprietary research and continuous product refinement. The updated formulation is part of Chevron’s broader strategy to maintain fuel quality standards that exceed industry requirements while supporting consumer confidence in branded fuels. The introduction of next-generation Techron also aligns with broader automotive trends focused on improving fuel economy, reducing emissions, and optimizing engine performance in increasingly sophisticated vehicle technologies.
