BPL Medical Technologies has announced the acquisition of YozmaBMtech, a South Korea-based developer of bone mineral density (BMD) diagnostic systems. The acquisition expands BPL’s capabilities in imaging and diagnostics while strengthening its position in preventive healthcare, bone health, and women’s health services.
As part of the integration, BPL Medical Technologies has introduced BMtech’s bone mineral density diagnostic systems in India and Dubai. The launch expands access to screening tools used for the early detection and monitoring of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions, which are becoming increasingly common with aging populations and changing lifestyles.
Bone mineral density testing plays a crucial role in identifying patients at risk of fractures and skeletal deterioration. Early screening allows clinicians to initiate preventive treatments and monitor disease progression, helping to improve long-term health outcomes for patients.
The diagnostic systems developed by BMtech combine imaging precision with patient-friendly design features. The machines are capable of high-speed scanning while delivering high-resolution diagnostic images. Advanced fan-beam technology with multi-channel detectors enables accurate measurement of bone density across multiple anatomical areas, supporting comprehensive clinical evaluation.
In addition to standard bone density testing, certain systems also support whole-body bone densitometry and body composition analysis. These capabilities allow healthcare providers to assess overall bone health, evaluate muscle-to-fat ratios, and conduct broader preventive health assessments.
Patient safety has been an important design consideration for the systems. The devices use low radiation exposure levels while maintaining diagnostic accuracy, making them suitable for routine screening programs in hospitals and diagnostic centers.
Another advantage of the systems is their compact design. The equipment is suitable for facilities where space constraints may limit the installation of large imaging systems, making them easier to deploy in smaller clinics and urban healthcare centers.
Healthcare experts have noted a growing demand for bone health diagnostics as populations age and the incidence of osteoporosis rises worldwide. Women, particularly those in the post-menopausal stage, face higher risk of bone density loss due to hormonal changes. Early detection and regular monitoring are considered essential in managing these risks and preventing complications such as fractures.
Dr Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies, said the acquisition represents an important milestone in strengthening the company’s preventive healthcare offerings. According to him, the addition of bone mineral density diagnostics will allow BPL to support earlier identification of bone health conditions while expanding its diagnostic technology portfolio.
The integration of BMtech’s technology also strengthens BPL’s presence in the women’s health segment, where bone density testing plays a vital role in evaluating post-menopausal health risks. Through the acquisition, BPL Medical Technologies intends to combine BMtech’s specialized diagnostic technologies with its own manufacturing, distribution and clinical expertise. This approach is expected to accelerate innovation in imaging and diagnostic equipment while improving accessibility to advanced diagnostic solutions in emerging healthcare markets.
BPL Medical Technologies has been expanding its portfolio across various diagnostic and imaging segments, including cardiology, critical care monitoring and radiology. The addition of bone density diagnostics aligns with the company’s broader strategy of strengthening preventive healthcare capabilities.
The company also expects the acquisition to support its international expansion efforts. By introducing the technology in India and the Middle East, BPL aims to broaden its footprint in global healthcare markets while addressing the increasing demand for early disease detection and preventive health screening.
With the growing burden of osteoporosis and lifestyle-related health risks, healthcare providers are placing greater emphasis on preventive diagnostics. The integration of BMtech’s technology within BPL’s portfolio is expected to support this shift by enabling more healthcare facilities to offer advanced bone health screening services.
