At the EICMA 2024 trade fair in Milan, Bosch introduced its latest innovations in cluster and vehicle architecture solutions tailored for the motorcycle industry. These new technologies address key trends in the two-wheeler sector, such as improved accessibility, secure connectivity, and enhanced digital experiences for riders.
Bosch’s connected clusters are designed to enhance the riding experience by offering an intuitive display that is glove-friendly, highly visible under various weather conditions, and operable through voice commands. This allows riders to maintain focus on the road while interacting with the system. Geoff Liersch, head of Bosch’s Two-Wheeler & Powersports division, emphasized that Bosch is committed to providing innovative technologies that bridge vehicle manufacturers and riders while maintaining high security standards.
The Bosch TFT Connect platform represents a seamless integration of connectivity features, such as wireless Apple CarPlay, GPS navigation, and voice control. By connecting the motorcycle’s system with smartphones, riders can access apps and navigate safely without needing to handle their devices. The system also supports Linux and Android Automotive, offering manufacturers flexibility to customize the interface and add content. Voice control allows riders to manage settings, such as ride modes, and perform hands-free tasks like making calls, sending messages, and controlling music.
Bosch’s new TFT connect display sets a new benchmark for motorcycle instruments. With a high-resolution screen capable of displaying over 16 million colors, the display boasts a brightness of 1,500 nits and a contrast ratio of 1250:1 for exceptional clarity in all lighting conditions. Available in 7-inch and 10.25-inch sizes, the display can be customized to suit different layouts and conditions. The touch interface is designed to be responsive even in wet or cold conditions, providing a seamless experience whether riders wear gloves or not.
Another key innovation is Bosch’s new central gateway for motorcycles, which enhances security by protecting electronic control units from unauthorized access and tampering. The gateway platform supports advanced features such as over-the-air updates, remote activation of functions, connected safety features, and vehicle tracking. It also enables keyless entry via smartphones, offering a more convenient and personalized riding experience.
According to Liersch, Bosch is setting the stage for future developments in motorcycle technology, from security to connectivity, and is excited to continue driving innovation in both software and hardware for the evolving two-wheeler market.
