Belden Inc, a global player in signal transmission and network infrastructure, has officially opened its second production site in Pune. The new five-floor facility, spanning 19,000 square meters, represents a major expansion in Belden’s manufacturing footprint in India and reaffirms its focus on advanced production, safety, and environmental stewardship.
The opening ceremony was led by Belden President and CEO Dr Ashish Chand, joined by senior executives and local leadership. This US$40 million investment adds to the original 10,000 sqm Plant 1 facility, which began operations in 2018, significantly increasing production capacity for essential connectivity solutions used across industries.
“This expansion is part of our long-term strategy to evolve from simply producing components to delivering integrated, mission-critical networking and data systems,” said Dr Chand. “Pune Plant 2 reflects our goal to build a smarter, safer, and more sustainable global operations hub.”
The newly inaugurated facility represents a major step forward in manufacturing excellence, featuring smart and connected production systems that enable real-time monitoring and integrated workflows. These capabilities ensure greater efficiency, faster response to customer requirements, and improved overall operational agility.
Built with scalability at its core, the plant is designed to ramp up production volumes quickly, adapting to fluctuations in global demand without compromising performance or quality. This flexibility positions the facility as a key contributor to meeting market needs on a global scale.
At the heart of operations are advanced automation and digital systems, which form the backbone of the plant’s infrastructure. These technologies deliver consistent product quality, streamlined processes, and a seamless flow from production to delivery.
Safety and sustainability have been central to the project from the very beginning. The plant recorded over 1 million accident-free work hours during construction and is on track to receive a Green Building Certification in India. The integration of solar power and energy-efficient systems further helps reduce the facility’s environmental footprint, aligning with Belden’s global sustainability objectives.
The facility brings clear value to multiple stakeholders. Customers benefit from faster deliveries, improved logistics, and closer access to regional markets. Employees enjoy a modern work environment designed to foster growth, collaboration, and wellbeing. The local community gains through new job opportunities, partnerships with local vendors, and infrastructure development that supports long-term economic progress.
Despite global challenges affecting supply chains, the Pune Plant 2 project was completed on schedule and to top-tier standards. It now serves as a critical hub for Belden’s operations in the region — a base for smart manufacturing and a key contributor to its global solutions portfolio.
Founded over 120 years ago, Belden Inc designs and delivers connectivity and networking products that power the digital economy. With operations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, the company supports a wide range of industries — from industrial automation to data centers — enabling secure, high-performance connections for a smarter future.
