Baker Hughes has received a substantial contract to supply subsea production systems and digital technologies for the Kutei Northern Hub development offshore Indonesia. The award was placed by Searah North Ganal Limited, a subsidiary of Searah Limited, a joint venture between Eni and PETRONAS. Baker Hughes will provide subsea equipment for the integrated development of the Geng North and Gehem gas fields.
Under the contract, Baker Hughes will supply 17 deepwater horizontal tree systems, together with associated manifolds, connections, control systems and distribution equipment. The subsea systems will support production from the offshore fields and their connection to the wider development infrastructure.
Baker Hughes will also deploy its Cordant asset protection and condition monitoring technologies. These digital solutions are designed to monitor critical equipment, identify potential problems at an early stage and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime. The project will support natural gas production for Indonesia’s domestic energy requirements and LNG supply. The development is expected to contribute to Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen natural gas availability and expand its LNG capacity.
Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President, Oilfield Services & Equipment, Baker Hughes, said the Kutei Northern Hub is an important project for Indonesia’s efforts to increase natural gas and LNG supplies for the country and the wider region. He said Baker Hughes would combine its subsea production technology, digital solutions and offshore project experience to support efficient and reliable operations from subsea production through gas processing and export.
Baker Hughes will use its manufacturing and operational capabilities in Indonesia to support the project and improve supply chain efficiency. Subsea trees will be manufactured at the company’s Global Manufacturing Center for Subsea Trees in Batam. The company’s Balikpapan facility will provide additional operational and service support for the project. Local manufacturing and service capabilities are expected to strengthen project execution and supply chain resilience.
The contract follows a separate award received by Baker Hughes in 2025 for flash gas compressors for a new floating production, storage and offloading vessel associated with the development. The vessel will have the capacity to process more than one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 90,000 barrels of condensate per day. The FPSO will also have storage capacity of approximately 1.4 million barrels.
The latest subsea award expands Baker Hughes’ role in Indonesia’s offshore gas development and adds to its involvement in the country’s growing energy infrastructure. The company will provide equipment and digital solutions aimed at supporting reliable production and long-term performance of the Kutei Northern Hub.
