Baker Hughes has officially inaugurated a new Subsea Services Center of Excellence and manufacturing facility in Dusavik near Stavanger, Norway, strengthening its capabilities to support the growing demand for advanced offshore energy technologies in the North Sea and international subsea markets. The newly opened facility spans approximately 49,000 square meters and has been purpose-built to support the development, manufacturing and servicing of next-generation subsea production systems. The company said the investment reflects its long-term commitment to enhancing offshore energy operations through technology innovation, operational efficiency and sustainable industrial practices.

The Dusavik site will serve as a central hub for multiple stages of subsea project execution, including the manufacturing of subsea production trees and wellheads, along with repair, maintenance and upgrade services for subsea infrastructure and control systems. The center will also support offshore production services such as installation, intervention and decommissioning activities for energy operators working in demanding offshore environments.

A major feature of the facility is its 12,000-square-meter workshop equipped with advanced engineering and testing infrastructure. The site includes multiple testing bays capable of simulating extreme subsea operating conditions, including pressure testing up to 22,500 pounds per square inch. Baker Hughes stated that these capabilities will allow engineers to validate equipment performance for deepwater and high-pressure offshore projects while improving reliability and operational safety.

The company emphasized that the new facility has also been designed with sustainability at its core. The Subsea Services Center of Excellence will operate entirely on renewable energy, helping reduce operational emissions and support broader industry efforts to lower the environmental footprint of offshore energy production.

The opening of the Dusavik center further strengthens Baker Hughes’ position in the North Sea region, where the company maintains a strong operational presence across the offshore energy value chain. Norway remains one of the world’s most strategically important offshore energy markets, with ongoing investments in subsea developments, production optimization and energy transition initiatives.

Baker Hughes currently operates several facilities supporting offshore operations in both Norway and the United Kingdom. Its manufacturing centers in Montrose and Newcastle supply subsea trees and flexible pipe systems to offshore operators globally. In 2025, the company also inaugurated a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Plug and Abandonment services in Norway to support the safe decommissioning of aging offshore wells and infrastructure.

Company officials noted that the new Dusavik facility will play an important role in supporting the offshore industry’s transition toward more efficient and lower-emission operations. By integrating advanced testing technologies, digital capabilities and sustainable energy sources, the center is expected to improve lifecycle performance for subsea assets while reducing downtime and maintenance costs for operators.

The investment also highlights Baker Hughes’ continued focus on supporting energy security and long-term offshore production in mature and emerging markets. As offshore operators increasingly seek technologies that improve efficiency and sustainability, the company believes integrated subsea service capabilities will become essential for maintaining reliable production and meeting evolving regulatory standards. Industry analysts view the expansion as a strategic move for Baker Hughes at a time when offshore energy activity is gaining momentum globally, particularly in the North Sea, where operators continue to invest in deepwater exploration, subsea tiebacks and infrastructure modernization.

The company said the Dusavik facility is expected to strengthen collaboration with customers, suppliers and engineering partners while creating opportunities for innovation across subsea production technologies. With advanced manufacturing, servicing and testing capabilities located within a single integrated hub, Baker Hughes aims to provide faster response times, enhanced operational support and improved project execution for offshore energy companies worldwide.
