Azimuth AI, a rising innovator in embedded silicon, and Cyient Semiconductors, a leading provider of custom ASIC turnkey solutions, have introduced the ARKA GKT-1—India’s first intelligent-power platform-on-a-chip tailored for advanced edge AI and smart energy applications. The launch, officiated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT, marks a significant milestone in India’s push toward semiconductor self-reliance and deep-tech leadership.
Developed through close collaboration between the two companies, ARKA GKT-1 brings together multicore custom computing, high-precision analog sensing, memory, and intelligent power management within a single, ultra-efficient SoC. Designed for smart utilities, modern metering, battery systems, smart city infrastructure, and industrial automation, the chip delivers real-time edge intelligence while maintaining extremely low power usage. This inaugural platform is built on Azimuth AI’s Software-Defined Silicon architecture and enhanced by Cyient Semiconductors’ strengths in mixed-signal, power, and low-energy ASIC design—creating a flexible silicon foundation for both domestic and global markets.
Shri Vaishnaw noted that ARKA GKT-1 demonstrates India’s capability to design world-class semiconductor technologies for crucial global industries, reinforcing the country’s momentum in advanced manufacturing and next-generation chip innovation. Krishna Bodanapu, Executive Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of Cyient Semiconductors, described ARKA GKT-1 as a transformative moment in India’s semiconductor evolution. He emphasized that the chip combines Cyient’s engineering expertise with Azimuth AI’s breakthrough architecture to deliver a highly energy-efficient solution suitable for demanding edge environments. He added that the program showcases a complete custom ASIC turnkey model—from design through fabrication, OSAT oversight, and final delivery—advancing India’s domestic semiconductor ecosystem under the India Semiconductor Mission.
Praveen Yasarapu, Founder & CEO of Azimuth AI, said the chip brings their vision of intelligent, low-power edge silicon to life, targeting fast-growing sectors such as smart energy, battery management, and industrial intelligence. He highlighted that the achievement validates the company’s technology roadmap and opens the door for large-scale commercialization.
This rollout highlights India’s growing capability to design and build advanced semiconductor solutions independently. It also represents a strategic step forward for both Cyient Semiconductors and Azimuth AI, setting the stage for future breakthroughs in edge AI and industrial computing.
