ACME Aklera Power Technology Private Limited, a subsidiary of ACME Solar Holdings Limited, has been granted approximately INR 47.40 crore in Change-in-Law compensation by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC). The decision is set to enhance the revenue of the company’s 250 MW solar project contracted with SECI by nearly 3.5% over the next 15 years.
The ruling establishes an important precedent for regulatory clarity and cost stability within India’s renewable energy sector. The awarded amount covers the impact of basic customs duty imposed on solar cells and modules, the GST increase from 5% to 12%, and associated carrying costs.
The compensation will be disbursed through an annuity mechanism at a 9% discount rate over 15 years, enabling equitable recovery of unexpected regulatory cost escalations while safeguarding project viability. RERC’s prompt resolution and clear directives for timely payment have further strengthened confidence among investors and developers, highlighting the supportive regulatory landscape for renewable energy expansion in India.
