Ather Energy Aims to Secure Rs 3,100 Crore in Funding

Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has announced strong financial results for the first quarter of FY27, driven by robust customer demand, higher vehicle sales and continued operational improvements. The company reported significant growth in revenue while achieving a positive EBITDA for the first time, reflecting improved profitability as production volumes increased.

During the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Ather Energy recorded consolidated total income of ₹1,260 crore, an increase of 87.2% compared with the same period last year. The company delivered 83,173 electric scooters, registering an 80.5% year-on-year growth, as demand continued to exceed available production capacity.

A key milestone for the quarter was the company’s positive EBITDA performance. Consolidated EBITDA stood at ₹9 crore, compared with a loss of ₹106 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. EBITDA margin improved by 1,650 basis points year-on-year to 0.8%, highlighting stronger operating efficiency and better cost management.

Ather also reported a consolidated Adjusted Gross Margin of ₹282 crore, up 82.3% from the previous year. Although higher prices of raw materials such as copper, aluminium, lithium and crude-based components increased input costs, the company managed to protect margins through calibrated price revisions, value engineering initiatives, supplier negotiations and an improved product mix.

The company’s consolidated net loss narrowed sharply to ₹51 crore, compared with ₹178 crore in the same quarter last year, reflecting continued improvement in financial performance. The quarterly results also include the performance of Ather Insurance Limited, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, which reported a net loss of ₹0.22 crore during the quarter.

Demand for electric two-wheelers remained strong across India. Industry registrations increased by 68% year-on-year to nearly 5.25 lakh units, while electric vehicle penetration crossed the 10% mark for the first time in June 2026, according to Vahan data. Ather continued to witness strong customer interest throughout the quarter. Customer enquiries increased 95% to 7.07 lakh, while quarterly pre-orders surged 158% year-on-year to 1.5 lakh units, underlining the growing popularity of the company’s product range.

To meet rising demand, Ather is expanding its manufacturing capacity through its new Factory 3.0 at AURIC in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The first phase of the facility, with an annual production capacity of 5 lakh electric two-wheelers, is expected to begin operations during the third quarter of FY27. Once both phases are completed, Ather’s total installed manufacturing capacity will reach 1.42 million electric two-wheelers annually.

The company is also preparing for the next phase of product expansion. Ather will unveil the first production scooter based on its all-new EL platform during Ather Community Day 2026 on August 29. Developed as the company’s next-generation vehicle architecture, the EL platform has been designed to support a wider range of products while improving manufacturing efficiency and scalability. The first scooter built on this platform is expected to help Ather serve a much larger customer base.

Commenting on the results, Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ather Energy, said the company continued to experience strong demand across its portfolio, supported by favourable market conditions and increasing customer acceptance of electric mobility. He added that the upcoming EL platform launch and the commissioning of the new manufacturing facility will position Ather for its next phase of growth while strengthening its presence in India’s rapidly expanding electric two-wheeler market.

Founded in 2013, Ather Energy continues to focus on innovation, offering a portfolio that includes the performance-oriented 450 series and the Rizta family scooter line. The company remains committed to advancing India’s electric mobility ecosystem through technology, infrastructure, and design excellence.
