Asian Energy Services Limited (AESL) has secured an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract worth Rs 187.62 crore, including GST, from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) for the capacity enhancement of the coal handling plant at the Ukai Thermal Power Station in Gujarat. The project represents a significant milestone for the company as its first major infrastructure contract outside the Coal India ecosystem, expanding its presence into state-owned power utility projects.
Awarded on a lump-sum EPC basis, the contract covers the complete scope of engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of the upgraded coal handling facility. The project is expected to be executed over the next two to three years and is anticipated to strengthen the company’s revenue visibility while expanding its order pipeline in the mineral infrastructure segment.
The order marks an important step in Asian Energy Services’ diversification strategy by broadening its customer base beyond Coal India and its subsidiaries. The company believes the project reflects its growing capabilities in delivering complex material handling infrastructure for India’s power and mining sectors.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Kapil Garg, Managing Director of Asian Energy Services Limited, said the company is pleased to secure the prestigious project, which will upgrade the coal handling capacity of the Ukai Thermal Power Station. He noted that the contract enhances the company’s order book in the mineral infrastructure business and provides improved revenue visibility over the coming years. He also highlighted that while the company’s previous projects have largely been executed for Coal India and its associated entities, the GSECL order demonstrates its successful efforts to expand into new customer segments and diversify its infrastructure portfolio.
Asian Energy Services has established a strong presence in the development of coal handling systems and rapid loading infrastructure across India’s mining sector. The company has executed multiple turnkey projects for Coal India subsidiaries, including Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), as well as Singareni Collieries Company Limited in Telangana.
Its project portfolio includes end-to-end execution encompassing design, engineering, procurement, construction, erection, commissioning, and, in several cases, long-term operations and maintenance services. The addition of the GSECL project further strengthens the company’s position in the coal handling infrastructure market while reinforcing its capabilities in delivering large-scale industrial engineering projects.
Asian Energy Services offers integrated solutions across the upstream energy value chain, including oil and gas services, seismic data acquisition, production enhancement, operations and maintenance of onshore and offshore facilities, as well as mining infrastructure development. Since becoming part of Oilmax Energy Private Limited, the company has broadened its business portfolio to capture opportunities across the energy, mining and upstream oil and gas sectors.
