Apollo Micro Systems Limited announced that its subsidiary, Apollo Defence Industries Private Limited, has completed the full acquisition of IDL Explosives Limited from GOCL Corporation Limited. With the transaction finalized, IDL Explosives Limited now becomes a step-down subsidiary of Apollo Micro Systems. IDL operates manufacturing facilities in Rourkela and other key locations, and the Apollo Group plans to scale and strengthen the business as part of its broader strategy in the fast-growing defence explosives sector.
The acquisition marks the beginning of a major strategic consolidation that is expected to take shape from Q3 FY2026. By bringing IDL’s advanced capabilities in defence-grade explosives, propellants, and warhead systems into its portfolio, the Apollo Group significantly expands its footprint in the defence ecosystem, complementing its established strengths in weapon system electronics and integrated platform solutions.
Commenting on this milestone, Baddam Karunakar Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Micro Systems Limited, said the company is honored to have been selected for this strategic opportunity and is committed to upholding the legacy and value of IDL Explosives. He noted that IDL, with its longstanding presence in India’s industrial and mining sectors, will now enter a new phase of transformation under Apollo’s leadership. The move aligns strongly with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision in defence manufacturing.
Apollo Micro Systems, founded in 1985 and headquartered in Hyderabad, is a leading provider of mission-critical, high-performance technologies for the defence sector. Backed by four decades of expertise, the company is now advancing toward becoming a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary defence systems provider, offering complete solutions ranging from weapon system electronics to complex weapon system platforms.
