Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has crossed a significant milestone by nurturing more than 100 startups, reinforcing Visakhapatnam’s emergence as one of India’s fastest-growing centres for medical technology innovation. Focused exclusively on healthcare, the AMTZ ecosystem is enabling entrepreneurs to develop cutting-edge solutions that address critical challenges across diagnostics, medical devices, biotechnology, rehabilitation technologies, and digital health.

While India’s startup landscape is often identified with cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi, AMTZ has steadily built a specialised ecosystem that supports the complete lifecycle of MedTech innovation. By bringing together advanced infrastructure, technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities, regulatory support, and market access under one roof, AMTZ has created an environment where healthcare innovations can progress efficiently from concept to commercialization.

The ecosystem comprises dedicated innovation platforms, including the Medivalley Incubation Council, Bio Valley Incubation Council, Bharat Limb Centre (BLC), and the Centre of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing. Together, these centres provide startups with access to advanced prototyping, precision manufacturing, testing laboratories, quality certification, regulatory guidance, clinical collaborations, and business development support, significantly reducing the time and complexity involved in bringing healthcare technologies to market.

AMTZ also promotes innovation through several flagship programmes designed to accelerate entrepreneurship and industry collaboration. The MedTech Hackathon brings together innovators, clinicians, researchers, and industry professionals to develop practical solutions for real-world healthcare challenges. The World Health Innovation Forum (WHIF) provides startups with opportunities to engage with global investors, policymakers, researchers, and healthcare leaders, while the Innovation Passport (iPassport) programme offers structured mentorship, regulatory assistance, market access, and commercialization support to promising ventures.

Commenting on the milestone, Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO, AMTZ, said, “Every healthcare innovation begins with a purpose—to solve a problem and improve lives. At AMTZ, our focus has always been on ensuring that promising ideas move beyond the laboratory and reach the patients who can benefit from them. The achievement of supporting over 100 startups reflects the confidence innovators have placed in our ecosystem and strengthens our commitment to advancing healthcare through technology and collaboration.”

The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), located in Visakhapatnam, is India’s premier medical technology manufacturing and innovation hub dedicated to strengthening the country’s healthcare ecosystem. Established with the vision of promoting indigenous development and manufacturing of medical technologies, AMTZ provides world-class infrastructure, advanced manufacturing facilities, testing laboratories, regulatory support, and innovation platforms under a single campus.

By bringing together startups, industry, academia, researchers, clinicians, and policymakers, AMTZ enables the seamless development of medical devices and healthcare solutions from concept to commercialization. Through its focus on innovation, research, skill development, and global collaborations, AMTZ is playing a pivotal role in advancing India’s MedTech sector, reducing dependence on imports, and improving access to affordable, high-quality healthcare technologies.
