Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s leading integrated medical device manufacturing park, has introduced the Innovation Passport (i-Passport) — a single-access platform designed to accelerate healthcare innovation and support startups across the country. Aligned with the vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, the i-Passport provides startups and innovators in MedTech, HealthTech, AI, diagnostics, and allied sectors with seamless entry into AMTZ’s advanced ecosystem. This includes access to plug-and-play facilities at the Visakhapatnam campus, state-of-the-art testing and fabrication labs, regulatory support, and opportunities for collaboration with incubators and industry networks.
The platform enables innovators to fast-track product validation, prototyping, and manufacturing at a single location, reducing barriers that traditionally slow down market readiness. It also connects participants with mentorship, funding avenues, and partnerships to enhance scalability.
The Innovation Passport was officially launched during the visit of Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, along with other S&T cluster representatives. So far, the programme has linked 75 incubators and over 1,000 startups nationwide, with plans to scale up to 200 incubators in the next phase.
“The Innovation Passport is not just about infrastructure access — it is about building a complete support system that shortens time-to-market, reduces costs, and positions Indian startups to compete globally,” said Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO of AMTZ. “By integrating testing, validation, design, manufacturing, and networking, we are creating an ecosystem where innovation in India truly thrives.”
The Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) is India’s first dedicated medical technology park, located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Established to reduce the country’s dependence on imports of medical devices, AMTZ provides world-class infrastructure, research facilities, and manufacturing units to promote indigenous production of healthcare equipment. Spread over 270 acres, it houses specialized laboratories, testing centers, prototyping facilities, and incubation hubs to support startups and established companies alike. By offering shared resources and cutting-edge technology at affordable costs, AMTZ fosters innovation, accelerates product development, and strengthens India’s healthcare ecosystem, aligning with the vision of making the nation self-reliant in medical technology.
