AISIN CORPORATION has revealed that its newly developed hybrid unit will be featured in Mitsubishi’s Xforce HEV, which was recently unveiled in Thailand. The Xforce HEV is a hybrid version of Mitsubishi’s compact SUV, designed for both style and practicality, offering comfort, reliability, and safety with strong drivability.
The hybrid system, AISIN’s first series-parallel model, was co-developed with Mitsubishi Motors. This system allows for seamless switching between motor and engine power based on driving conditions, thanks to an innovative dog clutch separation mechanism—adapted from manual transmission technology. This ensures both high fuel efficiency and superior driving performance without compromising ease of installation.
The system will be manufactured at AISIN Powertrain (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary located in Thailand, marking the company’s first electric unit production in the ASEAN region. AISIN is continuously expanding its global manufacturing capabilities to support electrification.
AISIN remains committed to advancing technologies that promote environmental sustainability and societal benefits, staying true to its mission of creating a better tomorrow through innovative solutions. AISIN CORPORATION, established in 1965 and headquartered in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, is a prominent Tier One automotive supplier.
The company offers a comprehensive range of products, including transmissions, brakes, engine components, navigation systems, and various drivetrain, chassis, body, and engine-related parts. Employing over 115,000 individuals across more than 200 consolidated subsidiaries globally, AISIN reported consolidated sales of approximately $32 billion in 2024.
In June 2024, AISIN’s major shareholders, including Toyota Motor Corporation, Denso, and Toyota Industries, collectively decided to divest at least 12.5% of their shares in the company, amounting to a $1 billion transaction. This move aligns with Toyota’s broader strategy to review and potentially unwind capital ties with affiliates as it focuses on developing battery-powered vehicles. Despite these changes, AISIN remains a key player in the automotive industry, continually innovating to meet the evolving demands of vehicle electrification and zero-emission technologies.
