Aerolloy Technologies Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of PTC Industries Limited, has completed the installation of a Plasma Arc Melting (PAM) furnace at its Strategic Manufacturing Technology Centre in Lucknow. The furnace has an annual capacity of approximately 600 tonnes and will be used to produce titanium alloy ingots. All mechanical, electrical, and control systems have been installed, and the equipment is now ready for trial runs and commissioning.

Plasma Arc Melting is a specialised process used to manufacture high-grade titanium and other advanced alloys in a controlled environment. It uses a plasma torch to achieve precise control over temperature, alloy composition, and material purity. This makes it particularly suitable for aerospace and defence applications, where material quality is critical.

The process also allows efficient recycling of internal scrap generated during casting and machining, improving material utilisation and reducing reliance on fresh raw materials. In addition, PAM supports the production of specialised titanium alloys in smaller volumes, which are not practical to manufacture using large-scale melting methods.

With the addition of the PAM furnace, Aerolloy gains greater flexibility in alloy development and cost management. The facility will enable the company to produce customised alloys for aerospace, defence, and space programmes that require specific material properties.

Combined with Aerolloy’s existing Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) and Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) capabilities, the new installation strengthens the group’s position as one of the most integrated titanium and superalloy manufacturing platforms in the region.

The project aligns with PTC Industries’ long-term plan to build a fully integrated advanced materials ecosystem in India, covering alloy development, melting, casting, and downstream processing. This capability supports both domestic requirements and export-focused growth in high-value aerospace and defence materials.

PTC Industries has over six decades of experience in manufacturing precision metal components for critical applications. Through Aerolloy, the company supplies titanium and superalloy materials to customers in India and overseas. Its ongoing investments at the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor aim to establish one of the most comprehensive strategic materials facilities globally.
