Adani Green Energy Becomes India’s First Company with 10,000 MW Renewable Energy Capacity

Adani Green Energy Ltd announced the successful commissioning of 2,000 MW of solar capacity at the Khavda solar park in Gujarat. This milestone has positioned the company as the first in India to exceed 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity. With this addition, the company now boasts an operational portfolio of 10,934 MW, making it the largest in India.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, AGEL has added 2,848 MW of renewable capacity, as stated in a company release. AGEL’s operational portfolio includes 7,393 MW of solar capacity, 1,401 MW of wind capacity, and 2,140 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. The company has set an ambitious target of achieving 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

AGEL’s operational portfolio of 10,934 MW will provide electricity to more than 5.8 million homes and prevent approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, according to a statement. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, stated, “We take pride in being India’s pioneer in the renewables sector.”

He added, “Adani Green Energy has not only envisioned a cleaner future but has also made it a reality, progressing from a mere concept of exploring clean energy to achieving an impressive 10,000 MW in installed capacity in less than a decade. This accomplishment showcases the speed and scale at which the Adani Group is working to facilitate India’s shift to clean, dependable, and cost-effective energy sources.”

Adani also mentioned, “As part of our commitment to reach 45,000 MW (45 GW) by 2030, we are constructing the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda — a 30,000 MW project that is unmatched globally. AGEL is not only setting new standards for the world but also redefining them.”
