ACME Solar Holdings Limited has announced the commissioning of an additional 155 MW / 470.25 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Rajasthan, strengthening its position in the energy storage segment. With this development, the company’s total commissioned BESS capacity has reached 297.67 MW / 951.74 MWh. This forms part of a larger planned capacity of 835 MW / 3,114.64 MWh being developed across multiple special purpose vehicles.
The newly operational storage systems are connected to the Inter-State Transmission System, enabling seamless integration with the national grid. These projects are designed to operate on a merchant basis, allowing the company to generate revenue by leveraging price differences between peak and off-peak electricity demand periods.
Battery energy storage systems play a critical role in modern power networks by improving grid stability and optimising energy utilisation. The commissioned projects will store electricity during periods of low demand and release it during peak consumption, helping balance supply and demand while enhancing overall efficiency.
The expansion reflects the growing importance of storage solutions in supporting renewable energy integration. As solar and wind generation continue to increase, energy storage systems are becoming essential for managing variability and ensuring consistent power supply.
ACME Solar has developed a diversified renewable energy portfolio of over 8,000 MW, covering solar, wind, hybrid and storage solutions. The company currently has a significant portion of its capacity under construction, including large-scale energy storage installations.
Its integrated approach, which includes in-house engineering, procurement, construction and operations and maintenance capabilities, enables efficient project delivery and performance optimisation. This model supports timely execution while maintaining operational efficiency.
The company’s growing focus on battery storage aligns with broader industry trends, where energy storage is emerging as a key enabler of the transition to cleaner energy systems. By expanding its BESS capacity, ACME Solar is positioning itself to address evolving grid requirements and support sustainable energy development.
