Action Construction Equipment Limited (ACE), India’s leading construction equipment manufacturer and the world’s largest manufacturer of Pick-and-Carry cranes, has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Japan’s KATO Works Co, Ltd to establish ACE KATO Pvt Ltd, a company dedicated to manufacturing high-capacity cranes in India for domestic and international markets. The new venture will set up an advanced manufacturing facility on an 11-acre site in Haryana with a planned investment of approximately ₹200 crore. The facility will initially manufacture Truck Cranes, Crawler Cranes and Rough Terrain Cranes, with additional crane models to be introduced in subsequent phases as production capabilities expand.
ACE KATO Pvt Ltd has been established to serve the growing demand for high-performance lifting solutions across sectors including infrastructure, transportation, mining, ports, energy, metro rail and heavy industries. The investment will support the development of modern manufacturing infrastructure, advanced production systems, technology integration and product development, with further investments planned to increase capacity over time.
The partnership combines KATO’s internationally recognised expertise in crane engineering, design and technology with ACE’s strengths in manufacturing, localisation, supply chain management and its extensive sales and service network across India. Under the agreement, KATO will lead product engineering and technology, while ACE will oversee manufacturing, sourcing and localisation.
A major focus of the venture will be increasing local sourcing through ACE’s established supplier ecosystem. Higher localisation is expected to improve manufacturing efficiency, strengthen supply chain resilience, optimise costs and reduce delivery timelines while maintaining the quality, reliability and safety standards associated with KATO’s engineering.
