Manufacturers today rely on an integrated combination of machines, measurement systems work holding, software, and skilled personnel to achieve consistent quality and process reliability. Creating an environment where these elements work seamlessly together has become a critical priority across modern production facilities. To address this need, Blum-Novotest Measuring and Testing Technology Pvt Ltd is set to inaugurate its new Competence Center in Bengaluru. With this development, India becomes the fourth country, after Germany, the United States, and China, to host a Blum-Novotest Competence Center. More than just a new facility, the centre reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting Indian manufacturers through integrated advanced technologies, process optimisation, and skill development.
The Bengaluru facility represents the culmination of a journey spanning over two decades. Blum-Novotest entered the Indian market in 2005 through a system integrator and established its subsidiary in 2011. Since then, the company has steadily expanded its footprint across key manufacturing regions, building strong relationships with customers across multiple industries. The new Competence Center brings this experience together under one roof, creating a collaborative platform where customers can learn, engage, and explore practical manufacturing solutions.
Spread across 22,000 sq ft, the Competence Center integrates: 5 CNC machines with 5 different controllers, tool presetting and tool holding systems, CNC programming softwares, machine integrated rotary tables and workholding devices. Rather than serving as a conventional product showcase, the facility demonstrates how diverse manufacturing technologies can work together to enhance productivity, precision, and process reliability.
Advanced capabilities such as post-processor integration connect CAM software directly with machines, reducing cycle times and manual intervention. Additionally, macro programming solutions are developed and tested in-house prior to deployment, enabling more stable and repeatable manufacturing processes while reducing dependence on individual operator skill levels.
A core pillar of the Competence Center is training and knowledge sharing. The facility will offer structured training programmes for: customer engineers, supervisors and machine operators. Technology partners, including Makino, S&T, Jyoti CNC, Phillips, Brother, ZOLLER, SolidCAM, Mastercam, Rego-fix, UCAM, will actively participate, enabling manufacturers to understand integrated workflows across multiple technologies. The centre also extends its training initiatives to the next generation. Through partnerships with technical institutes, students will undergo six-month to one-year programmes, gaining hands-on experience across: five machine controllers, multiple manufacturing applications. Supported by experienced engineers with over 15 years of domain expertise, these programmes aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, contributing to a stronger manufacturing talent pipeline.
Beyond training and application support, the Bengaluru Competence Center has also been assigned a dedicated R&D role by Blum-Novotest headquarters. A three-member engineering team will work on global software and product development projects and two R&D specialists from Germany will attend the inauguration to align future initiatives.
This investment comes at a time of rapid growth in India’s manufacturing sector. While the country continues to lead globally in two-wheeler production and remains a major automotive hub, several emerging industries are expanding, including: electronics and semiconductors, aerospace and defence, die and mould, medical devices and construction equipment.
This growth is driving demand for both advanced precision technologies and skilled manpower. From a team of just five employees in 2011, the company has grown to 38 employees, with offices in: Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Manesar, Chennai and Coimbatore. It plans to expand to 55 employees by the end of 2026, supported by strong growth momentum, including an average annual growth rate of 35% and peak growth of 55%. Building on this momentum, Blum-Novotest aims to double its business in the coming years. The company also plans to strengthen its regional offices and gradually transform them into technology centres to provide closer customer support across key manufacturing regions.
Commenting on the inauguration, BV Shyam, Managing Director, Blum-Novotest India, stated: “Training is one area we are focusing on very seriously. Over the years, we have gained significant experience working across diverse applications, and this knowledge is now being consolidated here. Our objective is to bring customers to the centre, train them, strengthen their processes, and give back to the industry through this Competence Center.”
The Competence Center will be inaugurated on July 2, preceded by a two-day Asia-America sales meeting involving colleagues from: Germany, United States, Brazil, Mexico, China, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan. Alexander Blum will inaugurate the facility alongside senior global and India leadership teams. Machine tool manufacturers and OEM leaders have also been invited. The inauguration will be followed by a two-day open house on July 3–4, welcoming customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
By bringing together advanced technologies, industry expertise, training capabilities, and R&D under one roof, the Bengaluru Competence Center underscores Blum-Novotest’s long-term commitment to India’s manufacturing sector. The initiative is designed to help manufacturers strengthen production processes, improve technology utilisation and develop critical skills for increasingly complex applications. Positioned as a hub for collaboration and innovation, the centre marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth in India and its contribution to the broader manufacturing ecosystem.
