Continental is swiftly ramping up its localization efforts in India using the “in the market, for the market” strategy. Continental is dedicated to Vision Zero, which aims to create a safer mobility ecosystem for all. Robust production procedures are used in Industry 4.0 to ensure high-quality standards.

The Indian aerospace and defence sector is growing rapidly in strength as well as in indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities. Many Indian companies are coming forward to offer products and solutions that can provide self-reliance to India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing. Shivayu Aerospace Components is one such fast-growing aerospace and defence equipment manufacturer, endowed with highly skilled manpower,  Industry 4.0 and Disruptive Technology to design and manufacture high precision aerospace and defence components.

Gp Capt Elavunkal Raman Rajappan (Retd)

Based out of Bangalore, Shivayu Aerospace Components is an AS 9100 and ISO 9001 certified indigenous developer of aerospace and defence equipment and components.

The company was established in 2017 by Gp Capt. ER Rajappan (Retd), who is an Aviation, Aerospace, and Defence expert with more than three decades of distinguished service to the Indian Air Force and United Nations.

Under Gp Capt ER Rajappan’s leadership, the company is contributing towards national security by providing advanced components;  for civil and military aircraft, drones, radar, missiles and satellites etc.

The Need for an Indigenous Defence Firm

Gp Capt ER Rajappan said, “In my long experience at the frontlines serving the IAF and as an aerospace and aviation expert and scholar, I understood the need for equipping Indian Armed Forces with not only the state-of-the-art technology but also making them future-proof.”

With Industry 4.0 and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs) such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) Augmented Reality (AR) and Quantum Technology (QT) enabled weapons and their delivery platforms, the battles fought in the future will be very different from conventional wars. To enhance the operational preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces, to prepare for any eventuality we need to modernize and reform our ageing technology. Shivayu Aerospace is keen to partner with Indian and foreign OEMs to design and manufacture future-ready weapons and delivery platforms”.

Providing Battle-Worthy systems

India is still significantly dependent on foreign countries like the US, France, Israel and Russia for technologies related to defence. This not only has a significant financial burden but the Armed Forces will be dependent on these nations for support and maintenance of weapons and their delivery platforms. To reduce such dependence, Shivayu Aerospace is working towards developing and manufacturing systems worthy of use during any contingencies.

The company has the technical know-how to develop parts for the legacy equipment of the Armed Forces, through reverse engineering. By using Shivayu’s reverse engineering capability, the Indian Armed Forces can significantly enhance their fleet serviceability and reduce inordinate delay in the repair and maintenance of their weaponry. This also helps in finding cheaper, indigenous alternatives to the usually pricey imported components.

Focusing on Advanced Disruptive Technology

Drone Components

Shivayu Aerospace has consistently maintained a high level of precision and skill in its products and services. Shivayu’s products conform to the global aerospace and defence standards in manufacturing and the company makes sure that it doesn’t compromise on the quality of these critical components.

In its four years of existence, the company’s infrastructure includes; state-of-the-art  CNC machines, conventional machines, CAD/CAM software and advanced high precision measuring equipment for precision manufacturing. The company employs the best aerospace & defence engineers with extensive experience in product development. Gp Capt ER Rajappan (Retd) added.

“Presently, the company is the supplier of components to a major aircraft OEM in the USA. We also provide parts for military radars, parts for drones and housing for electronic and avionic parts, etc. In the near future, we aim to become a reliable partner to Indian DPSUs and the DRDO for supplying aerospace and defence components.” In tune with its future plans, the company is consistently scaling up its infrastructure and technical manpower.

Enhancing India’s Defence Capabilities

Shivayu’s goal is to support and enhance India’s defence capabilities through indigenous design and manufacturing of next-generation systems. Gp Capt ER Rajappan (Retd) further added, “We have scaled up the company because we believe that there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of Industry 4.0  and Disruptive Technology-based systems. In the emerging security scenario, with a collusive partnership of our two adversaries, it is imperative that our Armed Forces get better weapons and delivery platforms”.

State-of-the-art CNC Machines

Shivayu is committed to enabling its customers- both civil and military to deliver their best. Any feedback from customers is always taken into consideration and it helps the company to make any changes where necessary and keep raising their benchmark quality according to evolving needs and standards.
