I-Mold Make in India Moulds gets a boost with HURCO Machines

Responding to the clarion call of building local supply chain stronger, it was during the COVID19 lockdown, that entrepreneur Bibu Prasad decided to venture into manufacturing moulds with the brand I-Mold, where I stand for India. Bibhu Prasad trusted HURCO and bought four machines, and now within three months, he decided to go for the fifth Hurco Machine, as per his expansion plans.

For the last 15 years, Pune based JSB Polymers are manufacturing plastic and rubber moulds. It was during the COVID19 lockdown, that the Managing Director of JSB Polymers decided to manufacture precision moulds, backward integration to his existing business. Believing that India can excel in its manufacturing, he named the new venture I-MOLD, where I stand for India.

“After the pandemic, the whole world started eyeing India, to find a global supply chain replacing China. The pandemic allowed me to think about the opportunity. Within the first 6 weeks of the lockdown we prepared the project report and started the construction of the facility and obtained the funding for the machines from the bank,” said Bibhu Prasad, Managing Director of JSB Polymers.

Mr Prasad brought four Hurco machines to his new facility. HURCO’s Machines helped the company to manufacture high-quality precision moulds in India, replacing the imported moulds which the manufacturers used to depend upon. “The quality and finish of the moulds which we are able to produce from the HURCO Machines are pretty good. A couple of moulds manufactured with the Hurco machines have given us excellent results. We hopefully foresee finalizing the fifth 5-Axis Machine from Hurco to further scale our mould manufacturing,” added Bibhu Prasad.

Bibhu Prasad visited the recently concluded HURCO TAKUMI Open House 2022, where 10 industry partners joined together to exhibit the latest machining innovations. “I am very grateful to be a part of this excellent show organized by HURCO India in their new technology centre at Chinchwad, Pune. Pune is India’s leading automotive manufacturing hub, and we can expect the business to grow from the city. I am looking forward to seeing more such HURCO’s innovation in manufacturing”, said Bibhu Prasad. The Open House was organised for two days on the 15th and 16th of March 2022.

Thanking Bibhu Prasad for visiting the Open House, Sanjib Chakraborty, Managing Director of Hurco India said, “At the HURCO TAKUMI Open House, we not just provided machines to our customers, but also assisted them in the type of tooling used and all the post processes. We are happy to have Bibhu Prasad at the Open House and he is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the professional Mould Manufacturing business.”

Hurco’s open house event this year, in partnership with various leading manufacturing firms, is lined up to tap the numerous opportunities in the Indian Cutting & Machining Tools and Die & Moulds Industries. “When there is a will, there is a way. Like JSB, many of our customers are looking forward to seeing more such efforts from Hurco to bring innovation in India and we hopefully expect the same,” commented Sanjib.

JSB’s new manufacturing facility had a soft inauguration on November 29 and within two months, it got 25 to 30 orders for mould products. “It is not about getting orders, but it’s all about performing and providing services to the customers. Such a huge order for the mould was challenging as it is my first tooling company. But, the Hurco’s machines and Sanjib’s support made it easy for us, in all aspects,” remarked Bibhu Prasad.
