Bajel Projects Limited, a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company in India’s power infrastructure sector and part of the Bajaj Group, has entered into a collaboration agreement with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and AnantGrid Private Limited to pursue opportunities in the country’s power transmission sector. The partnership aims to address the growing need for robust transmission infrastructure as India accelerates its transition to renewable energy.

With the country targeting 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, strengthening the power transmission network has become critical to integrate renewable sources into the grid and support rising electricity demand from industrial and residential sectors. Under the agreement, the three organisations will work together to explore projects aligned with India’s grid expansion plans. The collaboration combines NIIF’s investment and asset management expertise, AnantGrid’s capabilities in project development and execution, and Bajel Projects’ engineering and EPC strengths.

Through this framework, the partners intend to participate in projects that support grid modernisation and renewable energy integration while delivering reliable and cost-efficient transmission infrastructure. The initiative also aligns with the Government of India’s focus on increasing private sector participation in the power transmission segment.

Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bajel Projects Limited, said the collaboration reflects the company’s intention to contribute to the expansion of India’s power transmission network. He noted that combining Bajel’s execution capabilities with NIIF’s investment expertise and AnantGrid’s project development experience would help deliver high-quality infrastructure projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Mr Ganesh added that while Bajel will continue focusing on EPC services for clients, the collaboration creates an additional opportunity to participate more actively in India’s infrastructure development and power sector growth.

Bimal Dayal, Chief Executive Officer of AnantGrid, said power transmission will play a central role in supporting India’s economic growth and energy transition. As the country increases renewable generation capacity and electricity demand rises, significant investments in transmission infrastructure will be required to maintain grid stability and reliability. Mr Dayal noted that the collaboration with Bajel strengthens AnantGrid’s ability to jointly develop and deliver large-scale transmission projects that contribute to India’s evolving energy landscape. Avener Capital acted as the sole financial advisor to Bajel Projects Limited for this collaboration.

Bajel Projects Limited operates in power transmission and distribution infrastructure, delivering EPC solutions for utilities, state authorities and private developers. NIIF is a sovereign-anchored investment platform that channels global capital into infrastructure sectors critical to India’s development. AnantGrid, promoted by NIIF, focuses on building modern transmission networks that support India’s expanding energy system.
