Cyient Semiconductors, a leading provider of turnkey custom ASIC solutions and intelligent power technologies, has been shortlisted for a key contract to supply and validate technology IPs for the ₹4,500-crore modernization of the Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) in Mohali. The project is part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), which aims to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing, reduce foreign dependency, and provide accessible fabrication capacity to startups, research institutions, and strategic industries.
As part of the program, Cyient Semiconductors will deliver and qualify three essential technology platforms for SCL’s upgraded 8-inch fabrication line: RF-CMOS, BCD (HV LDMOS), and CMOS Image Sensor (CIS). These platforms support a broad spectrum of applications across automotive, industrial automation, energy systems, sensing, and connectivity markets—considered critical for expanding India’s semiconductor capabilities in mature technology nodes.
“Achieving technical qualification for this national program underscores our engineering expertise, strong IP portfolio, and end-to-end execution strengths,” said Krishna Bodanapu, Executive Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Cyient Limited. “This collaboration will accelerate India’s progress toward semiconductor independence by delivering impactful solutions across digital, mixed-signal, and power domains.”
The contract represents a key step in Cyient Semiconductors’ ambition to establish itself as India’s leading turnkey ASIC partner, covering the complete chip development cycle—from specification and design through production. “We are honored to be selected for this phase of SCL’s modernization,” said Suman Narayan, CEO of Cyient Semiconductors. “Our deep capability in RF-CMOS, BCD (HV LDMOS), and CIS enables us to contribute meaningfully to this national priority while advancing the semiconductor ecosystem in India.”
Cyient Semiconductors’ participation also aligns with its strategy to expand into high-growth domains, including smart-energy semiconductors and application-specific integrated circuits. Once deployed, the new process technologies at SCL may enable manufacturing for a wider scope of applications such as smart metering, industrial controls, imaging and sensing platforms, automotive electronics, and low-power IoT devices.
