Synopsys and 3D Engineering Unveil Engineering Simulation Design Center at MECF

Manufacturing-News

Synopsys, in collaboration with 3D Engineering—an elite Ansys Channel Partner—has launched a new Design Center for Engineering Simulation at the MCCIA Electronic Cluster Foundation (MECF) in Pune. The center is intended to expand access to advanced simulation tools for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), foster industrial research and development across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and support training programs for students and academia. The facility will play a pivotal role in strengthening simulation-based innovation in electronic product engineering across key industries such as automotive, aerospace and defense, electronics, and healthcare.

The Design Center offers direct access to advanced engineering platforms covering structural analysis, thermal performance studies, electromagnetics, and digital twin applications. It is equipped with high-performance computing infrastructure and licensed Ansys—now part of Synopsys—software suites, enabling startups, MSMEs, faculty, and students to work with world-class engineering tools and workflows.

As one of India’s largest Common Facility Centers (CFCs) approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the EMC Scheme, MECF—valued at ₹71 crore—supports product testing, certification, and calibration services for innovators and SMEs. The facility is developed by MCCIA, supported by MeitY and MIDC, and designed to strengthen the regional electronics ecosystem from design through certification with expert guidance and advanced infrastructure. This launch supports the national objectives of Make in India and Skill India, helping reduce development cycles, accelerate commercialization of indigenous products, and build a skilled workforce capable of addressing real-world engineering needs.

Mike Yeager, Area Vice President at Synopsys, commented “Engineering simulation is essential to modern product development, and our goal is to make these capabilities more widely available across India. By partnering with 3D Engineering and MECF—and with the support of MeitY—we’re enabling SMEs, startups, and students to participate in next-generation engineering advancements.”

Murali Pullela, Area Sales Director at Synopsys, added “This partnership strengthens India’s electronics landscape by providing access to cutting-edge engineering tools, accelerating product development, and ensuring alignment with global standards.” Shrikrishna Gadgil, CEO of MECF, shared “Our mission is to position this region as a center for emerging products and technological excellence. This Design Center represents an investment not only in infrastructure, but in talent, innovation, and capability-building for the future.”

Ajay Deshkar, Managing Partner at 3D Engineering, stated “As a longtime Ansys partner, we are proud to support this ecosystem that merges world-class simulation tools with the creativity and ambition of regional innovators.”

The Design Center will serve both as a technical training ecosystem and an industry consulting hub, offering design, simulation assistance, and specialized programs. Smaller companies will also benefit from subsidized access to advanced platforms and technical support, reducing barriers to high-end engineering adoption.
