Aramco, in collaboration with Pasqal—an international leader in neutral-atom quantum processing—has introduced Saudi Arabia’s first quantum computer, also marking the Middle East’s first system designed specifically for industrial use. Installed at Aramco’s Dhahran data center, the system represents a significant leap forward for the region’s technological capability. The partnership aims to build local expertise and accelerate quantum applications across the Kingdom’s energy, materials, and industrial sectors.
The initiative aligns with Aramco’s broader digital strategy to enhance operational performance, drive innovation, and create sustainable long-term value. For Pasqal, the deployment reinforces its mission to provide real-world quantum solutions to critical industries globally.
Ahmad O Al-Khowaiter, Aramco’s EVP of Technology & Innovation, highlighted that advanced digital tools—including artificial intelligence and next-generation computing—are central to optimizing company-wide operations. He described the collaboration with Pasqal as a natural extension of Aramco’s innovation strategy.
Pasqal CEO Loïc Henriet called this installation a landmark moment for the Middle East, representing the company’s most powerful quantum computer deployed to date.
Aramco’s venture arm, Wa’ed Ventures, became an early strategic investor in Pasqal in January 2023. Since then, it has supported the company’s efforts to bring quantum technologies and expertise to Saudi Arabia, helping establish a foundation for a regional quantum ecosystem.
The installed system operates 200 qubits arranged in customizable two-dimensional patterns, enabling advanced algorithm testing and exploration of industry-specific quantum applications. Pasqal will deliver training and joint research programs for Saudi engineers and scientists, fostering local talent and strengthening the Kingdom’s position in emerging high-tech fields.
As one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, Aramco focuses on producing reliable and sustainable energy resources to meet global demand. Its investments in innovation and technology underscore its role in fostering stability and growth.
