Larsen & Toubro(L&T) Transportation Infrastructure business has secured a significant order from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) to construct 156 route km (RKM) of high-speed ballastless track (Package T1) for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
The scope of work covers design, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of track-works on a Design-Build Lump Sum Price basis between Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex and Zaroli village in Gujarat. This includes over 21 km of underground track sections (Civil Packages C1, C2) and 135 km on elevated viaducts (Package C3).
This marks L&T’s second track-work package for the MAHSR project. In April 2022, NHSRCL awarded the company Package T3 (116 km) from south of Vadodara to Sabarmati depot, which is progressing rapidly. With the new contract, L&T will now execute more than 50% of the track-works in the MAHSR corridor. The project will adopt Japanese Shinkansen J Slab Track Technology, designed for train speeds up to 320 kmph, improved ride quality, enhanced service life, and simplified maintenance.
