Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd, a leading name in India’s pump and home electricals industry, has received approval from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to execute a major project under the “Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana” / PM-KUSUM B scheme.
Under this contract, Crompton will design, manufacture, supply, install, and commission 1,884 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems (SPWPS) across rural Maharashtra. The total project value stands at ₹49 crore.
The initiative is focused on offering dependable and environment-friendly irrigation systems to farmers. Each solar-powered pump will be supported by Crompton’s end-to-end service, including a five-year warranty, repair and maintenance coverage, and remote monitoring systems (RMS) to ensure efficient and trouble-free operations. The company will also provide customer support through local service centers, trained technicians, and a bilingual helpline for field assistance.
The project is part of the broader national effort to reduce dependency on conventional electricity and improve irrigation access in rural India, where agriculture supports more than half of the population. As power supply and water availability remain major challenges in the sector, government programs like PM-KUSUM are promoting the adoption of solar-powered systems to address these issues.
