JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has finalized a long-term power purchase agreement with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a solar power project integrated with battery storage. The agreement covers the supply of electricity from a 100 MW solar installation paired with a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This project will be located at a designated site and connected to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka.

The contract has a duration of 25 years, with an agreed tariff of ₹4.31 per unit. With this development, JSW Energy’s total secured energy storage portfolio now stands at 29.4 GWh, comprising 3.0 GWh of battery-based storage and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro capacity. This move supports the company’s broader objective of reaching 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by the end of this decade.

JSW Energy is part of the USD 23 billion JSW Group, which operates across key industries including steel, cement, infrastructure, and sports. The company has grown to become one of the leading private power producers in the country, maintaining a balanced presence across the electricity value chain—from generation to transmission.

Since beginning its operations in 2000 with a 260 MW thermal power plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, JSW Energy has expanded its power generation portfolio to 12.8 GW. The company has consistently added capacity through a mix of conventional and renewable energy sources, while building long-term power sale agreements to ensure revenue stability.

At present, JSW Energy is actively developing projects totaling 12.5 GW across various locations. These include a combination of wind, solar, and storage assets aimed at contributing to India’s renewable energy goals. The company’s ambition is to reach a total installed capacity of 30 GW by 2030.

Known for its operational strength, transparent governance, and disciplined financial strategy, JSW Energy continues to focus on sustainable growth. Its current and future projects are designed to support energy transition efforts and provide long-term value to customers, partners, and investors. This new project with BESCOM represents a significant step in advancing clean energy integration with storage, enhancing grid reliability and meeting growing energy demands in Karnataka with a sustainable solution.

JSW Energy Ltd is one of India’s prominent private sector power companies and is part of the USD 24 billion JSW Group, with interests spanning steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, and sports. Since commencing commercial operations in 2000, JSW Energy has grown its installed capacity from 260 MW to 10 GW, ahead of its FY25 goal. The company is currently building an additional 7.5 GW, aiming to achieve a total capacity of 20 GW well before 2030. JSW Energy operates across the power sector value chain with a focus on responsible growth, efficient operations, and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
