Speaking at the inauguration of SEMICON India 2024 in Noida, CM Adityanath highlighted the state’s achievements in mobile manufacturing and electronic components production.
According to the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable strides in mobile manufacturing, with the state now accounting for over 55 percent of mobile phones produced in India. Additionally, the state produces more than 50 percent of the country’s mobile components.
This progress, he noted, is a direct outcome of the focused efforts and investments directed towards the development of the IT sector, semiconductor industry, data centers, and electronics manufacturing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Adityanath emphasized that Uttar Pradesh has not only become a hub for mobile and electronic component manufacturing but has also positioned itself as a significant exporter of consumer electronics. He pointed to the investment by Samsung, a major Korean company, which operates the largest mobile manufacturing facility in Asia, located in Noida.
Samsung has further strengthened its presence in the state by establishing a display unit plant in Noida, illustrating the state’s growing importance in the global electronics market. The Chief Minister also introduced the UP Semiconductor Policy 2024, designed to attract investments in the semiconductor sector.
This new policy aims to foster a supportive environment for semiconductor manufacturing and has introduced various incentives, such as capital subsidies, interest subventions, reductions in land value, and exemptions from stamp and electricity charges. These measures are intended to make Uttar Pradesh a more attractive destination for semiconductor businesses.
In addition, CM Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh has achieved significant progress in becoming a major data center hub. The state has granted industry status to the IT sector, further boosting its appeal to investors. The UP Semiconductor Policy 2024 is a testament to the state’s commitment to creating a favorable climate for semiconductor investment and manufacturing.
