NOVACERO, one of South America’s leading steel producers, has selected SYSTEMS Spray-Cooled technology for its new electric arc furnace (EAF) project in Ecuador. The furnace is scheduled to begin operations in summer 2027. The complete EAF will be supplied by Sidertech S.A., while the Spray-Cooled equipment will be manufactured locally in Ecuador. The project brings together furnace technology, local manufacturing and regional technical expertise to support NOVACERO’s steelmaking operations.

NOVACERO serves the construction and industrial markets and operates a steelmaking facility using continuous charging technology. The new furnace project forms part of its efforts to strengthen steel production capabilities while addressing requirements for equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.

The company selected SYSTEMS Spray-Cooled technology with a focus on safety, reduced maintenance requirements and high equipment availability. The technology is intended to support efficient furnace operation while helping limit maintenance-related interruptions.

Steel Infinity, the exclusive representative of SYSTEMS Spray-Cooled technology in Latin America, supported the project’s development. The company will continue working with NOVACERO, SYSTEMS and Sidertech during implementation. Local manufacturing of the Spray-Cooled equipment is a key element of the project. Producing the equipment in Ecuador is expected to support coordination between the technology provider, furnace supplier and steel producer during the project’s execution.

The selection also reflects the importance of equipment performance in electric arc furnace operations, where availability and maintenance requirements can affect production continuity. NOVACERO’s choice of Spray-Cooled technology is intended to meet these operating requirements as the company advances its new furnace project.

The project will involve cooperation between the participating companies through the supply and implementation stages, with startup planned for summer 2027. SYSTEMS Spray-Cooled technology will be supplied as part of the new EAF installation by Sidertech. Steel Infinity will support the project through its regional representation and coordination with the companies involved.

The project combines NOVACERO’s steelmaking operations with Sidertech’s furnace supply, local equipment manufacturing and SYSTEMS technology. The participating companies will work towards bringing the new furnace into operation according to the planned schedule. Further project implementation will focus on equipment supply, installation and preparation for startup, with safety, equipment availability and operational performance remaining key considerations.
