Škoda Auto is expanding its Kodiaq SUV range with a new Laurin & Klement trim and a plug-in hybrid powertrain producing a system output of 200 kW. The updates coincide with the model’s tenth anniversary. Since its launch, the Kodiaq has attracted 1.2 million customers across 70 markets.
The new Laurin & Klement version will be the range-topping trim and will be offered with a choice of powertrains. Its features include seats with a massage function, silver roof rails, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, matching side sills and alloy wheels designed specifically for the trim. Laurin & Klement badges will feature inside and outside the vehicle.
The revised plug-in hybrid delivers 200 kW of combined system output, an increase of 50 kW over the current 150 kW version. It combines a 1.5-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine producing 130 kW with an 85 kW electric motor. The powertrain improvements include changes to the combustion engine and revised c trol software.
The vehicle uses a traction battery with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh and a net capacity of 19.7 kWh. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, allowing drivers to recharge during longer journeys. The Kodiaq was unveiled in Berlin on September 1, 2016, with customer deliveries beginning in spring 2017. The first generation was produced from 2016 to 2024, with 866,100 units manufactured. Customers could choose five- or seven-seat configurations, petrol and diesel engines, and optional all-wheel drive.
The second-generation Kodiaq was unveiled on October 4, 2023, and production began in Kvasiny in January 2024. Almost 330,000 units of the second generation have been produced to date. It introduced Škoda’s Modern Solid design elements, additional interior space and multifunctional Smart Dials. The range also introduced a plug-in hybrid version with 150 kW of system output and an all-electric range of more than 100 kilometres.
The Kodiaq RS, introduced in 2018, was the first Škoda SUV to carry the RS badge. In 2018, racing driver Sabine Schmitz recorded a time of 9 minutes 29.84 seconds around Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife in a production Kodiaq RS, setting a record for seven-seat SUVs that the company says still stands.
The model has received more than 40 awards across its two generations. In 2026, the second-generation Kodiaq won the SUV import category at the Auto Bild Allrad Awards for the third consecutive year and received further recognition from automotive publications.
