SHM Shipcare Private Limited has received the Champion of Diversity Award from Maritime SheEO in recognition of its efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the maritime industry. The award was presented to Saifuddin Hajee, Managing Director and Group CEO of SHM Shipcare, at the 7th Maritime SheEO Conference 2026.
The recognition acknowledges the company’s role in supporting a more inclusive maritime sector and Hajee’s contribution to advancing equal opportunities across the industry. SHM Shipcare also presented its Saffin Inflatable Rescue Boat at the conference’s Innovation Showcase, giving participants an opportunity to view the company’s marine safety equipment.
Designed for emergency rescue operations, the Saffin boat can accommodate six people, including five seated passengers and one person on a stretcher. The vessel has a nominal length of 4.2 metres, a breadth of 1.8 metres and a fully equipped weight of 778 kg. Its design combines portability with readiness for rescue operations at sea.
Commenting on the award and the product showcase, Saifuddin Hajee said the maritime industry benefits when women participate across all functions, from shore-based operations to work aboard vessels. He said the recognition reflected the company’s belief in inclusion and noted that safety at sea depends on capable people drawn from a wide talent pool.
The Champion of Diversity Award adds to the recognitions received by Hajee, who has also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directorate General of Shipping for his contribution to the maritime sector.
