SGS has received the SAF Supply Chain Excellence Award in the Testing, Inspection, Verification and Quality Assurance category at the India SAF Conclave and Awards 2026. The event was held on September 29 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The award recognises SGS’s work in supporting quality, transparency, traceability and compliance across the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) value chain. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important as the aviation industry looks to expand the use of lower-carbon fuels.

SAF is considered an important option for reducing emissions from aviation. However, wider adoption will depend on the ability of producers, suppliers, airlines and other stakeholders to demonstrate fuel quality, sustainability and compliance with applicable requirements. Testing, inspection and independent verification help establish confidence in these areas and support the development of a reliable supply chain. The two-day India SAF Conclave and Awards 2026 brought together industry representatives, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the development of India’s sustainable aviation fuel sector.

Amit Thakkar, Managing Director for India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at SGS, said, “We are proud to receive the SAF Supply Chain Excellence Award for Testing, Inspection, Verification and Quality Assurance. This recognition is a strong endorsement of the role that independent assurance plays in building confidence in an emerging and strategically important industry. As SAF moves towards greater commercialisation, the ability to demonstrate quality, sustainability, traceability and compliance across the value chain will be fundamental to market credibility and scale.”

He added that the transition to SAF involved changes across the wider aviation value chain. SGS’s technical expertise and independent assurance services, he said, could help stakeholders address these requirements and develop a transparent and reliable market. Arjan Praat, Global Vice President – Oil, Gas and Chemicals Analytical Services at SGS; Amit Thakkar; and Mehar Kuchimanchi, Director – Natural Resources at SGS in India, represented the company at the conclave and received the award.

The recognition reflects the work of SGS teams across testing, inspection, verification, quality assurance and sustainability. The company provides services intended to help organisations assess product quality, manage compliance requirements and strengthen supply-chain integrity.

SGS offers testing, inspection, verification, certification, quality assurance and sustainability services across the sustainable fuels value chain. These services can support stakeholders as they work to meet regulatory requirements and establish confidence in SAF production, handling and distribution.
