Rolls-Royce has secured an order from aircraft leasing company Avolon for 70 Trent 7000 engines to power 35 Airbus A330neo aircraft. The Trent 7000 is the exclusive engine for the Airbus A330neo family. The order strengthens the longstanding relationship between Rolls-Royce and Avolon and supports the leasing company’s widebody aircraft portfolio.

Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer, Rolls-Royce, said, “We welcome Avolon’s continued trust and partnership in the Trent 7000 programme with its latest order of Airbus A330-900s. Avolon is an important customer and long-standing supporter of this aircraft and engine combination, which forms a large part of its widebody fleet.”

Will Pitcher, Head of Powerplant Strategy and Asset Solutions at Avolon, said the A330neo remained one of the capable and efficient widebody aircraft in the market. “Powered by the Trent 7000, it offers our airline customers a compelling combination of fuel efficiency, operational reliability and range. This order strengthens our ability to support customers’ fleet renewal and growth plans over the coming decade,” he said.

The Airbus A330neo powered by the Trent 7000 delivers 14% better fuel consumption per seat than the previous generation of aircraft, while also reducing emissions. These performance characteristics are intended to help airlines improve operating efficiency as they renew and expand their fleets.

The Trent 7000 draws on technology developed across Rolls-Royce’s engine portfolio, including the Trent XWB. Since entering service, the engine has built a record of reliability and has accumulated more than five million flying hours across the Trent 7000 programme.

The engine is currently certified to operate with a blend containing up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Testing has also demonstrated its compatibility with up to 100% SAF, supporting the industry’s longer-term efforts to reduce aviation emissions as fuel availability and standards develop.

Rolls-Royce serves customers in more than 100 countries and has a local presence in 47 countries. Its businesses supply products and services to civil aviation, defence, marine and industrial markets. The company is also undertaking a multi-year transformation programme focused on improving competitiveness, resilience and financial capacity. The programme is intended to support investment in products and technologies that meet customer requirements and contribute to the transition towards lower-carbon energy systems.

Rolls-Royce Holdings plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker RR, with its American Depositary Receipts trading as RYCEY. The company reported underlying revenue of £20.1 billion and underlying operating profit of £3.46 billion for 2025.
