EPL Limited, a leading specialty packaging manufacturer, has reported that sustainable packaging accounted for 43% of its global tube sales in the first half of FY2026-27, up from 5% in FY2021-22. The company is expanding its production capabilities to meet rising demand for recyclable, recycled and bio-based packaging, with a target of achieving 60% sustainable tube sales by 2030 and eventually moving to a fully sustainable product portfolio.
EPL operates 21 manufacturing facilities across 11 countries and produces more than 9 billion tubes annually. Over 85% of its global installed capacity is equipped to manufacture sustainable packaging formats at commercial scale. Its products serve customers across oral care, beauty and cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food and nutrition, and home care.
Hemant Bakshi, Managing Director and Global CEO of EPL Limited, said the company’s progress reflects the growing shift towards circular packaging. He added that EPL is working to bring advanced materials and manufacturing technologies to commercial production while helping global brands meet sustainability goals without compromising product quality, appearance or performance.
A key part of the company’s strategy is its Platina range, a recyclable tube laminate designed to be compatible with the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycling stream. Its optimised ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) barrier structures provide oxygen and moisture protection while supporting recyclability. The platform has received recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers in the United States and RecyClass in Europe.
EPL has also expanded its Etain and r-Platina platforms, which incorporate up to 50% and 60% post-consumer recycled content, respectively. Its Organic GML range uses renewable feedstock and incorporates up to 50% biogenic carbon in the tube sleeve. The company used 566 tonnes of recycled input materials in FY2025-26, compared with 113 tonnes in FY2021-22. Recycled materials accounted for 1.12% of total production inputs during the latest financial year.
Customer partnerships are helping accelerate the adoption of sustainable packaging. In India, EPL worked with Colgate-Palmolive to shift oral care packaging from conventional aluminium barrier laminates to recyclable plastic barrier laminates using thinner material structures. The initiative was recognised with the CII Sustainable Packaging Award 2025.
EPL filed 23 patent applications and received 27 patent grants in FY2025-26, taking its global portfolio to 154 granted patents. Its research programmes focus on mono-material packaging, lightweight structures, greater recycled content and improved circularity. The company also received the EcoVadis Platinum Rating, placing it among the top 1% of evaluated companies globally. It has been recognised on the CDP Climate and Water A List and received the UN Global Compact Forward Faster Award for Sustainable Supply Chain Excellence.
EPL’s climate targets include reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 55% and Scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030, with a long-term net-zero target across its value chain by 2050. The company maintains ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications for environmental and energy management.
EPL operates 21 facilities across 11 countries and serves more than 1,200 customers globally. The company produces over nine billion tubes annually for customers across oral care, beauty and cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and health, food and nutrition, and home care.
