Eveready Industries India Ltd has entered the mosquito protection market with the launch of Eveready ULTIMA Liquid Vaporiser, which the company describes as India’s first portable liquid vaporiser. The launch expands Eveready’s consumer product portfolio beyond batteries and portable power products.

The Indian household insecticide market is valued at more than ₹5,000 crore, with liquid vaporisers accounting for around ₹2,800 crore. Conventional liquid vaporisers need to be connected to fixed electrical sockets, limiting where consumers can use them. Eveready’s new product is designed to offer greater flexibility by allowing mosquito protection in different parts of the home and other enclosed spaces.

“Eveready has always been in the business of bringing power and convenience to consumers, and our portfolio has evolved as their needs have changed,” said Anirban Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer of Eveready Industries India Ltd. He said the company was applying its experience in portable and rechargeable power to a new consumer category. The product is intended to allow users to move mosquito protection to locations where it is needed, rather than relying on a fixed plug point.

The portable vaporiser can be carried between bedrooms, children’s play areas, balconies, bathrooms and other locations where electrical sockets may not be conveniently available. The company also says it can be used in cars and other enclosed travel spaces.

Eveready ULTIMA has a rechargeable design and provides up to three hours of battery backup. According to the company, it can continue operating without being connected to a power source, including during power outages. Eveready says the product uses an advanced Japanese formula and provides 100% protection against mosquitoes that can transmit dengue, chikungunya and malaria.

Banerjee said the launch was part of the company’s wider strategy of entering consumer categories that address changing household needs while building on its existing capabilities. The company is supporting the launch with an integrated marketing campaign titled “Unplug and Use Anywhere”. Its central message, “Old Liquid Vaporisers are fixed. Mosquitoes are not,” highlights the limitations of conventional plug-in formats and presents portability as the product’s main feature.

The campaign will use digital media and television, alongside print and outdoor advertising. Eveready also plans to use hyperlocal marketing in markets where the product is available through retail outlets. Campaign communication will feature everyday activities such as dining, playing and studying to demonstrate how the vaporiser can be moved between different spaces.
