Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) has launched the In-Sight® 1750 Series, a wafer and panel identification system designed to help semiconductor manufacturers improve traceability, reduce production interruptions and maintain throughput. The new system comes as semiconductor manufacturers expand production capacity to meet demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure, advanced computing and next-generation electronics. Accurate identification and tracking of wafers throughout manufacturing processes are essential for maintaining production flow and quality control.

The In-Sight 1750 is designed to read a wide range of wafer and panel markings, including degraded marks and difficult substrates that can require manual intervention. The system combines Cognex’s artificial intelligence capabilities with advanced imaging and purpose-built illumination technologies for semiconductor manufacturing applications.

Matt Moschner, President and CEO of Cognex, said, “Investment in AI infrastructure is driving a new wave of expansion across the semiconductor industry, and chipmakers are being asked to bring new capacity online faster than ever while maintaining the highest quality standards. The In-Sight 1750 combines our latest AI technology with decades of semiconductor expertise to help manufacturers scale production without sacrificing quality or traceability.”

The system is designed to improve wafer traceability across fabrication and packaging operations. More reliable identification can help manufacturers maintain process control while reducing interruptions caused by missed reads and manual troubleshooting. The In-Sight 1750 is also designed for manufacturers seeking to upgrade existing wafer identification systems. Current In-Sight 1740 users can convert existing jobs and move to the new platform without extensive changes to their production processes.

A web-based setup interface is included to simplify system configuration and deployment. Built-in read logging provides information that can be used for quality monitoring and process control. The system is designed to support higher equipment utilisation by helping manufacturers maintain production throughput when processing wafers and panels with difficult markings. By combining AI-based identification with imaging and illumination technologies, the platform is intended to provide consistent reading performance across different semiconductor manufacturing conditions.
