Danfoss India has introduced its next-generation iC7 Ultra Low Harmonics Drive, designed to improve power quality, energy efficiency and operational reliability in industrial facilities. The technology was presented at SEMICON India 2026 and the 25th CII Energy Efficiency Summit.
The iC7 drive is designed for industrial applications where power quality and energy efficiency are important to continuous operations. Danfoss said the technology can help address electrical distortion and reduce energy losses in industrial power networks, supporting India’s efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce industrial emissions.
The drive uses an integrated active front-end rectifier to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion of Current (THDi) to below 3 per cent while maintaining a power factor of 1.0. By limiting electrical distortion at the source, the technology is designed to reduce power losses across industrial electrical networks.
Another feature is its ability to support smaller upstream electrical infrastructure. Danfoss said the solution can enable industrial facilities to use transformers and backup generators that are 10 to 25 per cent smaller, without compromising operational performance. This can reduce material requirements and infrastructure costs while lowering the embodied carbon associated with new industrial facilities.
The technology is aimed at sectors with demanding power-quality requirements, including semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics. By reducing thermal stress and helping protect connected machinery, the drive is designed to support equipment reliability and reduce the risk of premature failures.
Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India and CII Southern Chairman, said, “India is rapidly shifting from just a consumer market to a global powerhouse for advanced engineering and manufacturing. Showcasing our next-gen iC7 technology at both SEMICON India and the CII Energy Efficiency Summit highlights the deep synergy between electronics infrastructure and clean energy. Through relentless innovation and scalable local design, we remain fiercely committed to eliminating power distortions, slashing industrial emissions, and building a self-reliant, energy-secure future.”
Mandar Vaijanapurkar, Head of Drives Sales, Marketing & Services, Danfoss India, said, “As modern industrial facilities adopt sophisticated automation, maintaining high power quality has become non-negotiable for operational reliability and business continuity. The iC7 Ultra Low Harmonic Drive is engineered to tackle electrical distortion directly at its source, allowing customers to safeguard sensitive equipment, cut down on infrastructure stress, and boost overall network performance. By delivering cleaner electricity, this solution builds the operational resilience required for India’s next phase of industrial expansion.”
The iC7 Ultra Low Harmonics Drive forms part of Danfoss India’s portfolio of technologies focused on industrial energy efficiency, power quality and electrification. Its introduction comes as manufacturers expand automation and high-technology production capacity and seek to manage energy consumption and infrastructure requirements.
Headquartered in Oragadam, Chennai, Danfoss India boasts a robust network of sales, support teams, and over 3,500 employees.
