Tungaloy Corporation and NTK Cutting Tools have announced plans to merge NTK Cutting Tools with Tungaloy, effective January 1, 2027, subject to applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Following the merger, the integrated organisation will operate under the Tungaloy corporate name, while continuing to use the NTK Cutting Tools brand. NTK Cutting Tools will become a dedicated division within Tungaloy, retaining its technology, product heritage and industry expertise.

The integration will combine the capabilities of the two companies in cutting tool technology. Tungaloy has a broad portfolio of cutting tools and expertise in grade development and product innovation. NTK Cutting Tools has established a strong position in ceramic cutting tool technology and miniature cutting tools.

The companies said the combination will bring together their technology, manufacturing capabilities and industry knowledge, with the aim of providing customers with a wider range of cutting tool solutions and application support. As part of the integration, plans have also been finalised for a new headquarters and manufacturing facility for NTK Cutting Tools in the Nagoya area of Japan. The multi-million investment will expand production capacity and introduce advanced manufacturing technologies.

The new facility will provide space for manufacturing, engineering, marketing and corporate functions. It is expected to provide a modern production and working environment while supporting the future growth of the NTK Cutting Tools division. The merger will also bring together the employees and technical teams of both organisations. Their combined experience is expected to support product development, application engineering and customer service across global markets.

For customers and distribution partners, the integrated organisation will offer access to a broader portfolio of cutting tool technologies, application expertise and industry knowledge. The companies said the combination will enable them to serve manufacturers across a wider range of applications and requirements.

The NTK Cutting Tools brand will continue to be used following the merger, allowing the business to retain its established identity and market presence while operating as part of Tungaloy. The transaction marks a new organisational structure for the two companies and combines their respective capabilities in cutting tool manufacturing, materials technology, engineering and customer support. The planned Nagoya facility will further strengthen manufacturing capacity and provide a base for future product and technology development.
