HARTING Technology Group is showcasing connectivity and cabling solutions for power and data transmission in rail vehicles, infrastructure and signalling systems at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. The company is exhibiting its solutions in Hall 12, Stand 310, during the rail industry’s leading trade fair, being held from September 22 to 25.
HARTING’s portfolio at the event includes connectors for bogie and car-to-car coupling systems, Ethernet solutions and components for Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC). The company is also presenting new cable technologies designed to address the requirements of modern rail vehicles, including limited installation space, weight reduction, reliable data transmission and fire safety.
One of the products on display is the BETAtrans DATA-ENX CAT 5 Ethernet cable. The cable can maintain data communication for up to 120 minutes in the event of a fire. It supports data transmission speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s and is compatible with Power over Ethernet applications.
HARTING is also presenting the optimised BETAtrans GKW-ENX cable, which is designed to reduce installation space and weight while maintaining performance and durability. Compared with standard cables, the solution can reduce installation space by up to 40 per cent and weight by up to 28 per cent.
The company is displaying inter-car coupling systems that combine power and data transmission between rail carriages. These systems can also be used for modernisation and retrofit projects. Ethernet solutions for rolling stock and signalling applications are another focus at the HARTING stand. Demonstrators show the integration of Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) in railway applications. SPE cables can transmit the same volume of data as conventional eight-core Ethernet cables while weighing around one-third as much per kilometre.
HARTING is also presenting components for Digital Automatic Coupling, including distribution boxes, cabling and mounting solutions for retrofitting freight wagons. DAC enables end-to-end power and data connections across freight wagons, supporting greater automation in rail freight operations.
“We support the rail industry in its electrification and digitalisation efforts – with connectivity and cabling solutions that enable greater power, data and functionality within limited installation space. At InnoTrans, we are demonstrating how this works in practice for rolling stock and infrastructure,” said Jörg Scheer, Senior Vice President Market, HARTING.
HARTING Technology Group, a leader in industrial connectivity, employs around 6,000 people globally, with 42 sales companies, 14 production sites, and seven development centers. The company generated sales of EUR 940 million in the 2023/24 business year.
