SCHOTTEL will present its latest propulsion, automation, electrification and service solutions for the maritime industry at SMM 2026 under the theme “At your side. At every stage.” The company will demonstrate how its technologies and services support shipowners and operators from the initial planning stage through vessel operation, modernization and maintenance.

A key highlight at the SCHOTTEL booth A4.310 will be PropControl 4, the company’s latest propulsion control system. Developed for azimuth drives, bow thrusters and controllable pitch propellers, the system provides modern control and steering functions that can be adapted to different ship types and propulsion arrangements.

PropControl 4 features an interactive control console designed to simplify operation. Improved ergonomics, haptic feedback and a push-to-talk interface are intended to support crews during daily vessel operations. The system also incorporates cybersecurity requirements based on IACS UR E27 and IEC 62443-3.

A redundant design with an FFU backup system allows continued operation through the familiar control lever if a system failure occurs. As part of the SCHOTTEL Smart Thruster Platform, PropControl 4 uses a common hardware and software base. Monitoring and connectivity functions from SCHOTTEL’s IoT and Monitoring System further support long-term vessel operation.

Visitors to SMM 2026 will also see models of established SCHOTTEL propulsion products, including the SCHOTTEL RudderPropeller SRP, SCHOTTEL Controllable Pitch Propeller SCP and SCHOTTEL PumpJet SPJ. The SCHOTTEL EcoPeller SRE will be another major focus. Its hydrodynamically optimized design is intended to provide high steering forces, efficiency and course stability. The propulsion system has been selected for demanding applications, including a naval rescue vessel and modernization projects for Norwegian ferries.

SCHOTTEL will also highlight its cooperation with sister company elkon, which specializes in electrical system integration. The companies provide solutions covering electrical power generation, distribution, storage and control. Their combined capabilities support hybrid and electric propulsion concepts as shipowners seek more efficient and future-ready vessel designs.

After-sales support will form another important part of SCHOTTEL’s SMM presence. The company provides remote assistance, crew training and technical support through five training centers worldwide. More than 170 service technicians support customers, while repair workshops in key maritime markets provide additional local assistance.

SCHOTTEL operates more than 100 sales and service locations worldwide. Two recently completed repair facilities in Brazil and Colombia further expand its service capabilities. Through its combination of propulsion technology, electrical integration, digital systems and lifecycle services, SCHOTTEL aims to help shipowners improve vessel efficiency, reliability and operational performance throughout the life of their fleets.
