Windings Inc, an employee-owned manufacturer of engineered electromagnetic solutions, has acquired Machine Tool Engineering Inc. (MTE), strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and expanding its ability to provide integrated solutions to customers in aerospace, defense, industrial, energy and advanced mobility markets. The acquisition brings MTE’s precision machining capabilities under the Windings umbrella, including CNC turning, milling, grinding and Swiss machining. The move will allow Windings to bring more critical manufacturing processes in-house, reduce dependence on external suppliers and improve control over production schedules, quality and costs.
For more than 60 years, Windings has worked with tier-one defense, aerospace and industrial customers to design, develop, prototype and manufacture custom motors and related components. The integration of MTE is expected to strengthen this offering by creating a more connected manufacturing process from initial design and prototyping through production.
Heather Braimbridge-Cox, CEO of Windings Inc, said the acquisition is an important milestone in the company’s 2030 strategy. She said bringing MTE’s machining expertise into Windings will help reduce supply chain dependencies, strengthen internal manufacturing capabilities and provide customers with faster delivery, consistent quality and end-to-end production support. MTE was founded in 1976 and holds ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications. With nearly five decades of experience, the company has developed expertise in precision manufacturing and serves customers with demanding quality and production requirements.
Sarah George, President, Machine Tool Engineering Inc., said joining Windings provides an opportunity to combine the strengths of both organisations. She added that the companies share a focus on precision engineering, quality, customer service and employee engagement, creating a strong foundation for serving aerospace and defense customers and other advanced industries.
The acquisition is expected to expand Windings’ manufacturing capacity while improving its ability to manage critical production processes internally. It will also help the company provide customers with greater visibility and control throughout the manufacturing cycle.
By combining electromagnetic engineering with precision machining capabilities, Windings aims to offer a more resilient supply chain and reduce production delays associated with outsourced machining. The expanded capabilities will support both prototype development and higher-volume manufacturing requirements.
